Asked for rental vehicle, standard. Got SUV as "free upgrade" - got charged SUV rate. Free upgrade was not free. Fuel service is BS. Don't trust the people who work here.

Rented from the DeKalb Enterprise Rent-A-Car location after an accident claim. I specifically needed a standard vehicle. I was told they only had an SUV available and that it would be provided as a “free upgrade” due to vehicle availability. After reviewing the final receipt, I discovered I was actually charged the SUV rate ($79.80/day), not a standard vehicle rate. I was also told the fuel option would charge based on fuel used, but later found I was charged a flat prepaid fuel amount of $52+ for using less than 4 gallons. From 13g to 9.9g on return. Even at $5 or $8/gal, I wouldn't pay $52+. But, I take responsibility for not being more assertive and requiring they spell everything out *in the agreement.* I trusted they would do what we all verbally agreed to. While I'm prepared to eat whatever cost I cannot recover, I'm still hoping they do the right thing and regain my confidence in them and their ability to do business with integrity. I'll update this if they respond to my request for a review of the charges and correct it, but in the meantime, people should be cautioned when renting from here. They may not always do what they say they'll do. LOOK at your receipts, pay attention to what they send you off with vs what they charge IF / WHEN you're told you "got a free upgrade." I know it can get busy, but I recommend customers carefully review the vehicle class for which you're being billed vs what you were told you'd be billed, fuel service terms, any “free upgrade” explanations documented before signing the agreement. If free upgrades are something they offer, they should have an option indicating that on the agreement. If necessary have them write it in there and initialed. They're billing you for goodVehicle while sending you off with greatVehicle. They shouldn't match if you're getting a free upgrade. To Enterprise Rental - it's important to do what you tell your customers you're going to do otherwise you can't be trusted. To the Consumer, be careful what you're agreeing to, and make them - yes - make them write out whatever agreements they tell you about. I'd like to know how often something like this happens. Is it a practice this business has implemented through their locations nationwide?

Placed a reservation on February 26th, 2026 for a minivan that had seating for seven people to be picked up on April 11th, 2026. Received a call on Friday , April 10th at 5:30 p.m. from Enterprise associate Parker stating that Enterprise did not have a vehicle that could accommodate the reservation I requested. They offered no help or a solution outside of saying they have a SUV that can carry five people. I said I requested a vehicle for seven people for a reason. It's very unprofessional that you're calling me less than 12 hours before my reservation saying that you do not have a vehicle. I asked if they could locate a vehicle at another Enterprise for me. They said they couldn't do that. They said all they had was vehicles that could seat five people. Very crappy customer service. I will never use this Enterprise again. I strongly suggest you look somewhere else. I have zero faith in the enterprises reservation process or the confidence of the people at the Enterprise that work in DeKalb, Illinois. I would also suggest the Parker received some type of customer service training.
