My experience with Dobbs Tire started off great. On July 22, I came in with low tire pressure, and the employee who helped me (I unfortunately don’t remember his name) was incredibly friendly and put on my spare tire. I scheduled an appointment for Friday morning for two new tires and an alignment and was assured my car would be ready that evening.
After dropping it off at 8 a.m., I hadn’t heard anything by 3 p.m., so I called. I was first told it would be ready in 45 minutes, then immediately received another call saying they had broken a part, my car was undrivable, and it would be ready Saturday morning. I explained that I needed to leave early Saturday for a 4 hour road trip, which I had made clear when dropping off the vehicle.
Saturday morning, I was told another part was needed and my car wouldn’t be ready until Monday. The only response to my frustration was, “These things happen.” I had to scramble to rent a car just hours before needing to leave, costing me about $400, and it also caused me to miss a scheduled appointment with my trusted mechanic in the town I was traveling to for another issue with my car (which of course was a cheaper price ) Once my dad called, there suddenly seemed to be much more urgency/ concern (of course)
We were then told the car would be ready Monday, but no one ever called. While I was out of the country, my dad called Wednesday only to learn it still wasn’t ready, and I didn’t get my car back until Saturday—eight days after an appointment that was supposed to be same-day service.
Although they said they discounted about $1,100 (including the part they broke), and what my mechanic intended to fix , it was presented as a favor rather than taking responsibility for the inconvenience, rental expense, and lack of communication. There was never an apology.. They could’ve at least gave me a free oil change, because I know they saw my light on. Overall, I left with very little confidence in Dobbs. Appointments, communication, and accountability all fell far short of expectations.
