  It was pretty busy when I went and seemed like only one person was working downstairs for Alamo/national. But he was hustling through people as fast as he could, so it wasn’t that long. Drop off was fine too, just the one lane entrance/exit is a bit cramped in a big car and I was lucky nobody was trying to go at the same time because backing up in that spiral would have been scary. Definitely smaller than an airport center but more convenient when you’re trying to escape the city. And unlike enterprise they actually had the car I reserved.

  Emerald lane was a breeze. Car drove great! National in Chicago has gotten rid of the spray they used to use which caused breathing issues with asthma in the past. Thanks for listening and making adjustments!

  I have rented from here many times over the past decade. I have found this location efficient and convenient. The downsides, relative to other National locations, is that you still have to stop at the counter to check in before heading to a car, and, of course, they have more limited hours. But they're still open later than work hours, they're still open on the weekends, and picking up a car here is FAR easier than hauling out to O'Hare or Midway. The front desk guy can be a little bureaucratic but once you get downstairs to pick up your car, the employees are always very friendly. A few tips: 1. Despite the LaSalle st address, the entrance is on Clark St near Lake. 2. Don't be put off by the trip to get your car. Once you step out of the elevator on the lower level, you will absolutely feel like you are the unwitting character in a suspense movie. You will also wonder if you're in the wrong place. But you are both safe and in the right place. Just keep walking back, through the divider/fencing, until you see the National Kiosk in the back.
