  I’m late posting this review, I purchased an XC 90 from McGrath over Memorial Day weekend. Oscar was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The dealership was busy so it took a while to get to the financing portion of the process, but I was kept updated throughout. The experience was as smooth and stress free as buying a new car can be.

  After an extensive search and comparison of several luxury SUVs, I recently purchased a Volvo XC60 from McGrath Volvo, and the experience exceeded my expectations. Our salesperson, Julio Zamudio, was exceptional from beginning to end. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the vehicles and took the time to answer every question thoroughly without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. He listened carefully to what we were looking for, respected our time, and guided us through the process with professionalism, patience, and genuine care. Most importantly, he wanted to make sure we were completely comfortable and confident in our decision. The entire team at McGrath Volvo contributed to a first-class experience. The dealership is beautiful, welcoming, and professionally operated, and every person (Julio Zamudio, Alex Granados, Din Miftari) we encountered was friendly, courteous, and eager to help. Buying a vehicle can sometimes feel stressful, but Julio and the team made it enjoyable, informative, and seamless. Their commitment to customer service and professionalism truly sets them apart.   Very disappointing experience. Before we visited, we were told over the phone that the pricing could be discussed further. We traveled to see the Volvo XC60 expecting a professional conversation. However, when we asked about the quote, the salesperson compared buying a Volvo to shopping at Ralph Lauren versus Goodwill, which felt insulting and disrespectful. If the price was non-negotiable, that could have been explained politely. Instead, we left feeling humiliated. This is not the level of customer service I expect from a premium brand.

  I have lived in the city for the past six years and have not had a vehicle after a tragedy in my family. It was time for me to start the process of deciding what vehicle I would be purchasing… this time around I knew I wanted a small crossover and had not thought about a luxury vehicle until my Costco membership offered me $1000 off. So, I decided to go over to McGrath Volvo in Barrington and met with a gentleman named Derrick. I knew from the second I met Derrick that I would be purchasing a vehicle from him. I was between the Volvo and a Honda CRV, but once I drove the Volvo, I fell in love with it. However, I thought I could get a better price for the Honda being a non-luxury vehicle. Therefore, I went back to Honda with the intention of purchasing the vehicle from them, but was extremely thrown off by how disrespectful their general manager was and the things that he was saying to my father, who was negotiating the deal for me. In that moment, I knew I had to go back to McGrath Volvo and work with Derrick and that’s exactly what I did. I am extremely excited that I made that decision. I love my XC 40, I love the way it drives and I love my freedom. I love the way that Derrick fought for my business and I didn’t have to convince him to sell me a vehicle. I love that he walked me through every single feature of my vehicle and felt like a friend from start to finish. We loved him and the interaction so much that we already referred someone to him that purchased!! if you’re looking for a non-pressured, highly customized and thought out process, I would go to McGrath in Barrington and talk with Derek.

  I recently purchased a vehicle from this dealership, and unfortunately the overall experience was very disappointing. Shortly after leaving the dealership, I noticed that a small piece was missing from the front bumper of the vehicle. I contacted my salesperson Julio, who told me he would look into the issue and get back to me by the following Monday. Despite that promise, I never received any follow-up communication. To make matters worse, I was pulled over on my drive home because the vehicle did not have a front license plate installed. As an Illinois resident, I later learned that front license plates are required. This is something that should have been addressed before the vehicle was delivered. The finance department created even more frustration. The finance manager Preet was overly pushy throughout the process and continued trying to sell additional products after I had clearly declined multiple times. The payment process was then mishandled. The finance manager Preet attempted to deposit my check twice without signing it, which caused my bank to reject it both times. Because of this mistake, I had to obtain a replacement check. Despite the delay being caused by the dealership's handling of the payment, I was later pressured to drive more than two hours to personally deliver the replacement check because the dealership had been waiting 15 days for payment. I explained that the delay was the result of the finance manager's (Preets) actions, not mine, and mailed the check instead. After I mailed the replacement check, I specifically asked the finance manager to notify me when it was received. Once again, I received no follow-up communication. The common theme throughout my experience was poor communication and a lack of follow-through. Whether it was the salesperson failing to return calls about the missing bumper piece or the finance department mishandling the payment process, I repeatedly found myself dealing with problems that should have been avoided. While I am happy with the vehicle itself, the customer service I received before and after the sale fell well below my expectations. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership.
