My sister saw this place featured on CBS morning show and knew we were traveling across country. She messaged me and said if we were in the area to stop in. We stopped for lunch. Bought souvenir t shirts and filled our tank before hitting the road. Food and service in the restaurant was great. We didn’t have time to visit the museum.

If you’re ever traveling through Iowa, you have to stop at Iowa 80 — the World’s Largest Truckstop.
This place is so much more than a truck stop. It’s absolutely massive, with tons to see, food, shopping, and some cool truck-related displays. You could easily spend a good amount of time walking around and checking everything out.
One thing that really stood out to me was how incredibly clean everything is. For a place this big it was so well-maintained, organized, and spotless. You can tell they take pride in keeping the entire place looking great.
It’s one of those places that you don’t really understand how big and unique it is until you see it for yourself! Worth the stop, even if you’re not a trucker.

The I-80, as I like to call it, is a city in and of itself. I like to go there for a meal in the I-80 Kitchen Restaurant. It's rather comforting to know that there's at least ONE place you can go that's open 24/7/365. If you don't want a decent 'sit-down' meal in the restaurant, the usual fast-food options are available: Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, DQ and Subway. There's also a nice coffee shop. I love to people-watch and visit with the truckers. I've certainly heard some cool stories and have met some extraordinary folks from all over. People are interesting wherever you go. If you're into 'stuff', there's plenty to browse and buy. Everything from hoodies and T-shirts to mudflaps, candy and toys. I've purchased a fancy atlas, ginormous cookies and several plush 'animals' over the years. The I-80 is also the only place within a radius of 100 miles or so where I can find horehound candy. It's an old-fashioned flavor, but I love it, and this is the only place I can find it without having to order it on-line. You'll also find a dentist, chiropractor, barber and small movie theater as well. There's a truckers museum, plenty of BP gas pumps and a spacious parking lot for 18 wheelers and regular passenger vehicles. The only complaint I have is about the restrooms. They need to do a serious upgrade in that department. There are enough stalls, but the restrooms feel crowded and could stand much better ventilation. All in all, the I-80 Truck Stop isn't just a lay-over, it's an experience! Check it out when you're on the road; it's worth a visit.

This is a great stop on any road trip! There's a buffet, extensive snacks, premade food, donuts, as well as a Wendy's, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and a Dairy Queen/Orange Julius. You can even order on ordering screens for Wendy's and Taco Bell if you feel like minimizing your conversations woth people after being stuck in a car.
Lots of things you can buy like comfy clothes, stuffed animals, keychain items with names on them.
They have nice spacious bathrooms. Also, there's plenty of area to walk around and stretch your legs, or to sit down and eat inside.
A great place to make a stop (a definite upgrade from a gas station, but still gets the job done—more snack/food options though.)
