The parking lot is very dark. Since you’re making money from this location, please install better lighting for the safety and security of your customers.

The facility itself was clean and well maintained, so I have no complaints about the store. However, I had a ridiculous, frustrating experience when purchasing fuel. Either the counter people lied or Pilot corporate needs to have their heads examined. Without any warning, a preauthorization hold of approximately $226 was charged on my credit card while I was filling a regular passenger vehicle that couldn't take more than $50 at best. Because it was such a bizarre charge for gas my credit card company flagged it as possible fraud. When I received the fraud alert, I honestly believed the charge was unauthorized and reported that I had not made it. As a result, they canceled my credit card and I now have to wait for a replacement. Fortunately that won't disrupt my travel but for someone else they could wind up stranded in Iowa. If Pilot is going to attempt to place such a large preauthorization hold on customers' cards, especially those simply filling up a regular car, there should be a very clear warning at the pump before the transaction begins. This policy caused a major inconvenience that could have been avoided with better communication and frankly I would have gone down the road for gas. I travel all over the country for work throughout the year and I often drive. We've always stopped at Pilots but this one experience ended that. I will never stop at another. The only way I even knew what happened was I went in the prepay gas and the counter people told me corporate puts holds on cards when people pump gas. Honestly I might never have known except my credit card declined the hold and texted with a fraud alert. If this has been happening at other Pilots, I believe it's likely illegal and someone needs to reassess liability for Pilot. It will take 1 stranded passenger getting hurt for this to spell disaster and there's no legitimate reason for $226 unless I'm driving an 18 wheeler. Whoever came up with this policy and/or approved should be fired. Terrible and as far as I'm concerned borderline fraudulent behavior. I'm a lawyer and I'm appalled by this. Just because you can doesn't mean you should without authorization.
