    Over the past 8 years, my family has trusted Car-X, but my recent experiences at the Bettendorf location have been extremely concerning. In just three visits over the last six months, I encountered poor communication, lack of management oversight, and unprofessional staff behavior. Most alarmingly, a service error during my most recent visit resulted in a dangerous fuel leak that put my safety at serious risk. To put it simply, this Car-X location demonstrates a consistent lack of accountability and quality control. What started as minor concerns about staffing and communication, escalated into a life-threatening mechanical failure caused by improper installation of my car's fuel filter. My first visit at Car X was for a wheel alignment, where I was told additional repairs were required (stabilizer link, brakes, and rotors) before the alignment could be completed. I had no issue with this recommendation and planned to return later. During my second visit in early March for brake service, I was informed, only after arrival, that the employee specializing in rear brake repair had quit and the remaining team on-site would need to be trained. While I understand that turnover exists, this should have been communicated in advance or at the time of booking. Additionally, the advertised free inspection was not completed, and I was never notified when my vehicle was ready. I ended up calling around 4pm to confirm if it could be picked up. Upon arrival, only 1 overwhelmed employee was managing both the front desk and repair area. While he was polite, the lack of management presence was obvious. My third visit on 4/4 is where the situation became unacceptable. I reported ongoing braking concerns and requested they do an inspection which was missed in my previous visit. During this visit, I was told my front brakes were fine, rear brakes would be serviced, and that my fuel filter had a hole and needed replacement. I approved the work immediately due to the safety concern. However, at pickup, there was again no manager on-site and the same employee struggled to process my checkout, he had to call the manager for help applying a coupon. The process took significantly longer than it should have and to this day, I still do not feel like my brakes are working as they should. Within days after my appointment, I discovered the most serious issue. I noticed a strong gasoline smell and found a puddle of fuel under my parked car. The Car-X staff had improperly installed the fuel filter and it had come loose, creating a major fire and explosion hazard. I had to involve the fire department and urgently tried to contact Car-X to understand the work performed. The response I received was shockingly unprofessional, staff told me the manager had already left for the day and that the technician who worked on my car was unavailable because they were "pooping in the restroom". No one took accountability or treated the situation with the urgency it required. I ultimately had to tow my car to another repair shop, where I was informed the fuel filter was not properly secured. Specifically, it had not been fully latched into place. This is a basic installation failure that should never happen, especially given the safety risks. On 4/13 when I followed up with the manager, he was defensive and did not take responsibility for the situation. Instead, he attempted to shift blame onto me for raising my voice (which I had already apologized for at the start of the call) and for the age of my vehicle. Since then, I have attempted to follow up on the status of my refund for the fuel system repair and related expenses, but have been told that he is not on-site. To summarize my experience, Car-X demonstrates a clear pattern of poor communication, lack of oversight, and dangerous service practices. What began as minor operational concerns escalated into a serious safety hazard that required emergency response and resulted in additional out-of-pocket expenses. I strongly advise others to avoid this location if you value your safety.

    Maybe if you guys are not going to be open on Sundays you should probably put that on your Google listing and also not use a call center who knows where that will set up an appointment that’s not gonna happen because there’s literally no one there. Thanks for a huge waste of time

    I was in a pinch and needed a new battery so I went here. Highest battery price I’ve ever heard of but I paid it.. only to realize they added extra fees and also didn’t even tighten the battery down with the bracket. They explain two rods were longer so they couldn’t, yet they could have added a few washers to even it out. Went to good year and they did just that for me and made sure it was secure. Customer service was nice but the prices are very high and they should have made it secure
