    If you live in the area, I highly recommend AIM High Automotive or Honest Wrenches instead. Do not take your car here. I originally brought my car in because it needed a new battery. While I was there, I was told it also needed a tune-up, so I agreed to have the additional work done. After spending nearly $800, I expected my car to be running better. Instead, when I got it back, it was in much worse condition than before. Rather than returning to the same shop, I decided to take it to another mechanic because I had lost confidence in the repairs and wanted a second opinion. The second mechanic found that the new spark plugs installed by CarX were cracked and damaged. After learning this, I took the receipt back to CarX and explained the situation. They refused to reimburse me for the repairs related to the damaged spark plugs they had installed. Based on my experience, I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the repairs, the amount I paid, and how the situation was handled afterward. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this shop.

    When Goldner and Jones owned Car-X it was fine. Monro buying it has really messed it up. I will not longer be sending people here. Ames store really screwed up. Ankeny store had a chance to make it good. Here we are. No point in calling customer service.

    I love this place! Went in for diagnostics (weird noise) and water pump failing. $1300 estimate. Connor, Lindsey, and new guy(sorry I didn't get your name) took great care of me. They fixed my car and came in at$600 UNDER estimate. Great waiting room,great people just glad I found them.

    Used to have great experiences with Car-X, but over the last few years the service has gone downhill. The front desk felt more focused on upselling and corporate policy than actually helping customers. I came in for a simple valve stem replacement, but due to the age of the tire they said they couldn’t dismount it to complete the repair. I understood the safety concern with older tires and had a spare available if needed. They installed a replacement tire, but I drove less than a mile and it went flat. I had to return, only to be told the replacement tire had a pinhole and wasn’t repairable. I’m not sure why it wasn’t checked to confirm it would hold air before sending me back on the road. At that point I just had them install my spare so I could leave and handle it myself. What should have been a quick repair turned into a frustrating experience.
