Braxton (I am so sorry if I misremembered/misspelled your name) sold me some spray to restore plastic trim, a wheel wash, and a beautifully subtle tire shine (that actually seems to last more than 10 minutes) and it all works wonderfully. Especially impressed with the trim stuff, it really transformed the overall impression of my husband's car. I'm trying to sell it so I can buy an Integra - if anyone's in the market for a 2000 Subaru Forester with beautiful shiny trim and tires lmk ;)

A few weeks ago AutoZone sold me a remanufactured starter. It worked fine at first, but the next day my car was struggling to start and by the time I got off work it was barely turning over.
No big deal — it was remanufactured, these things happen. I'll just take it back and trade it under warranty. Should be easy, right?
It was, until B entered the picture.
B is a fantastic, charismatic man with a wonderful personality! Would make an awesome drinking buddy! As for customer service?
Instead of honoring the warranty, B accused me of installing it wrong — said my wires were "crossed" and I installed it wrong. He then goes on to inform me that AutoZone won't honor the warranty if the part breaks or fails due to improper installation.
First off, I drove the car all Sunday, to work Monday, and then to AutoZone. You cannot do any of that with a botched installation. The car starting is proof that it was installed correctly. Second, the starter only goes in one way. It's literally impossible to seat it incorrectly. After pointing this out, his team attaches that car tester to the battery, and then declares with sweeping confidence that the starter passed their test... while the engine was running...
Convinced — finally — that I didn't botch the installation, B decides it's the alternator! The man spent 5 minutes swearing the copper threading looked bad (it's a 10 year old RAV4, of course the Alternator doesn't look new!). The Battery's good, starter's good, so it must be the alternator!
I ask if they can test it. B tells me to turn the car off so he can properly check everything. I remind him the car is barely starting. He insists. I turn it off.
Car won't restart.
B goes: "Yeah, that's definitely the alternator."
The car didn't start. So it must be the alternator. Also, this man claims to be a licensed mechanic.
I ask if they can test the alternator to be sure. They said they can't , because the car needs to be on to test it. Remember — they told me to turn the car off.
It took 15 minutes to finally get the car started again. At this point the starter either found Jesus or decided it was running on fumes and hatred because after that, that was the last time it worked.
After all that, B tries to sell me a $430 alternator and says it's suuuuper easy to install. Easier than a starter! This, from the man who just accused me of installing a starter wrong.
I didn't buy an alternator. I DID purchase a battery starter and kudos to AutoZone for having one for a really good price!
Later that evening my friend and I pulled the starter, came back, and asked the evening crew to just test it. No B — probably off somewhere selling bicycle wheels to a motorcycle enthusiast.
So the evening crew tests the starter. Lo and behold — bad starter. Big flashy "FAIL" on the screen. Almost like I tried to tell them from the beginning.
I don't understand what form of incompetence serves the AutoZone model, but if you are aiming for mediocrity and an urgency to sell bad parts or willfully ignore what's wrong with your vehicle, then the Salt Lake Boulevard location is the golden standard!
Big shout-out to the evening crew for making it right! Thank you for giving me my money back and honoring the warranty. And big shout out to O'Reilly next door for selling me a good starter (they were sure to test it before selling it to me.)
Car works perfectly. Alternator still good.
Overall not the worst experience of my life, and the people are genuinely nice and mean well when trying to be helpful. Despite B's unearned confidence, he was genuinely a nice guy. I just don't trust AutoZone anymore when it comes to car parts.
