We had a wonderful experience with our car rental. The entire process was smooth and easy, and everyone we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and professional. We always felt comfortable asking questions, and the staff were happy to help whenever we needed assistance.
The car was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our time in Hawaii. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and would highly recommend this car rental company to friends and family. We would definitely rent from them again!
We had a very good experience with Alamo during our recent trip to Hawaii. The check-in line was fairly long when we arrived, but it moved quickly and the process was efficient. Our rental car was clean, in excellent condition, and completely free of any noticeable damage.
The Alamo staff throughout the process were professional, courteous, and helpful. Overall, everything went smoothly and we would definitely rent from Alamo again on a future trip to Hawaii.

⭐ 1 STAR – AVOID ALAMO HONOLULU
Terrible experience. I returned the car, but weeks later I am still dealing with unresolved charges. My PayPal account is now negative and I was warned it could be sent to collections.
I have called Alamo repeatedly. Today alone we called the Honolulu location THREE TIMES, and the calls ended without anyone resolving the problem.
Emails, phone calls, waiting — and still no solution.
Travelers, be very careful with this location. Check every charge and keep every receipt. I would NOT rent here again

AWFUL service. I will never rent from Alamo again. Our car battery died twice during our rental period. I tried to call Alamo multiple times and not only did it take forever to get ahold of a human, but when I finally did get ahold of someone, their English was not very good and it was hard to understand them. They told me their were no other cars available on the entire Island and that I could try driving to a location in person to see what they had. We had a dead battery, so we couldn't exactly drive there. We finally got our valet to jumpstart our car and were able to make it to our tour and back. The next day, our car would not start again, so we had the same problem trying to get ahold of someone. This time, the lady told me there was nothing she could do to help other than jump the car. I told her our hotel could do that, but my concern was what happens if we drive an hour to the other side of the island and get stuck there. She told me she couldn't answer that for me since I wasn't in that position, so she wasn't allowed to tell me how they would handle it. I politely tried to explain that I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be stranded with my 2 small children on the side of the road and she then said "thank you for calling Alamo, goodbye." and hung up on me!! It was the WORST customer service I have ever experienced! We had to get a portable jump batter from Walmart just so we could feel somewhat safe driving around Hawaii since we clearly could not rely on Alamo. The ONLY reason this got 2 stars instead of one is because the lady at the Airport location who helped us upon return was very sympathetic and is working on getting us some sort of credit to help redeem the situation. So that being said, I am hopeful she will be able to get that taken care of for us, but until we see a check come through, I will keep this at 2 stars.
Booking my car thru a 3rd party was easy.
Upon arrival, bus driver made no greeting nor a slight acknowledgement. We hopped on and sat.
I pre checked online ahead of time and needed the most fastest way to expedite my rental as I had an appointment that I needed to be at (ran late due to delayed flight). The email confirmation I received stated that I was already pre-check and needed to go to the nearest Alamo Kiosk. Upon arrival at the rental car office, I saw no kiosk. The line was long with 5 other customers ahead of me with only one agent. I approached an agent at Enterprise (who wasn’t doing anything or helping anyone) and ask if there was anyone else who could assist. Or perhaps, she could help me herself as to my understanding, Alamo, National and Enterprise is using the same system. The Enterprise agent rudely responded with “oh sorry I’m with Enterprise - you have to check in with her” and point across to the only agent.
I was appalled! And so I walked back to stand in line at Alamo
By the time I got to the front, another agent came out and immediately called me to the counter. She was okay - very straightforward with almost no personality. She greeted but never acknowledged the time I waited in line. My interaction with her was strictly business - in a way, I appreciated as I was already running very late.
Readyline agent was nice
Exit agent was friendly
Car was ok - older with high mileage. Ran okay. Interior and exterior conditions were decent
Upon return, pulled up with no greeting from anyone. Saw two agents chit chatting in between cars. I had to personally approach them to let them know I was there and needed to return.
Overall experience was okay. I’ve had better experiences and personalized interactions with National in the past. The service at Alamo has definitely gone downhill - which is disappointing!!
