I’ve been with Intoxalock for a month now and since day one I’ve been having issues. First I was quoted a 75.00 installation fee, but when I got to the installation I was charged 500.00. Then I was told that my money would be returned, then I was told that it would take two weeks to cut a check, then I was told that the money would go back onto my debit card, then I was told that they had to leave the money in my account. Every customer service person had a different story to tell me. A lot of inconsistencies.. Then I’ve been having issues with my device constantly doing the two minute restart beep. Was told that they would set me up an appointment to have my device checked out. Shop said they never got the request. Called customer service, told them that I was going out of town and asked when could I go get my device calibrated, the rep told me that they would schedule me to go get calibrated on the 17th of July. After that I kept getting messages about my device needing to be calibrated. I called the customer service almost every day letting them know about the messages, I was told that it would come off my device because the system was showing that I got calibrated on the 17th. Got back in town to find out that I was locked out of my device. Now they’re telling me that I got it calibrated before the date and that I had to pay again to get my device reactivated . More inconsistencies. It says the conversation is being recorded, the reps say that they’re adding the issues into their notes, but no one knows about the conversation I had with the last rep. I am very frustrated with this process. And I can’t get in contact with anyone to give me a straight solution to this situation. Just got off the phone with customer service AGAIN, now they’re saying that I have to go and pay again for another calibration in order to get my truck to start again. I don’t think it’s fair that I was misinformed by a customer service representative and have to pay for another calibration. No one is on the same page and no one wants to try and fix the problem.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
