I recently visited Rincon Chevrolet after my vehicle was declared a total loss due to an accident. As a single mother, purchasing another vehicle is not something I planned for, and I was already dealing with a stressful situation.
I want to start by recognizing Dakwane, who was absolutely amazing throughout the process. From the beginning, he worked hard to help me find a vehicle and get approved. He was professional, kind, and genuinely seemed to care about helping me. Based on my interactions with him alone, I would highly recommend working with him.
Unfortunately, my experience took a different turn when I came to the dealership to discuss my options. The original vehicle I had been approved for had already been sold, and I was shown a small blue sedan instead. I explained that, as a boy mom, I was hoping for a small SUV and did not feel the sedan would meet my family’s needs.
When I arrived at the dealership, Mr. Lonnie sat down with me and immediately began discussing my credit situation. He told me that the blue car was approved for me and that I could keep it for 12 months and then trade it in later. When I explained that I did not like the vehicle, his response was essentially, “Well, okay,” followed by telling Dakwane, “We tried.”
To make matters more difficult, I live in Savannah and had to arrange a ride to the dealership. I was also trying to secure transportation before my totaled vehicle was picked up, which added a sense of urgency to my situation. Given those circumstances, I was hoping for a conversation that explored all available options.
What disappointed me most was not that I couldn’t get the exact vehicle I wanted. It was the feeling that the conversation ended the moment I expressed concerns. There was no discussion of alternative options, no attempt to explore other possibilities, and no effort to understand my situation. I left feeling dismissed, judged because of my credit, and discouraged.
I have spent the last two years driving a 2003 Ford Expedition because it was what I could afford at the time. I’m doing the best I can to provide for my children and maintain reliable transportation. A little empathy and effort would have gone a long way.
Dakwane’s customer service was outstanding and is the reason I am not leaving an even lower rating. If I were recommending this dealership, I would tell people to ask for Dakwane. However, based on my experience, I cannot recommend working with Mr. Lonnie.
