This particular trip was during a family emergency, and I was driving alone from Georgia to Florida. On the way there my phone charger stopped working and my phone died which was extremely stressful because I relied on my phone for apple pay & gps. I took an exit when I saw a RaceTrac and went inside to ask if I could briefly use a charger to get my phone powered on so I could purchase a new charger. Before I approached the counter the employee was laughing and chatting with a male customer but when I asked my question, her demeanor completely changed and she looked at me as though I was asking something unreasonable. I repeated myself and she continued staring at me and saying she didn’t understand my question. At that point, another customer at the self checkout kindly asked if I needed a Type-C charger (thank you to that customer for trying to help, even though I needed a Lightning charger) The employee eventually came around the counter and asked what charger I needed. I explained that I needed a Lightning charger for an older iPhone. She grabbed one and said she had to ask her manager. She went outside returned a few minutes later and told me they could not help. I simply thanked her and went to the Chevron down the street on 3279 Jodeco Road. The employees there treated me with respect allowed me to charge my phone for a few minutes and did not make me feel like I was inconveniencing them. Once my phone turned on, I purchased the charger and continued my journey to Florida safely. I understand that policies vary by store and my concern is not that my request was denied. My concern is the way I was treated and spoken to during a stressful situation and looked at like i was dumb. A little kindness goes a long way. No crookedness🤷♀️
