Frequently Asked Questions About Xpress Auto Glass
Will my new windshield or auto glass be covered under a warranty?
Yes. We back every windshield installation with a lifetime warranty that remains valid for as long as you own your vehicle. Our warranty is fully honored whenever a claim needs to be filed, providing you with long-term protection and peace of mind.
What insurance companies do you work with?
We work with all insurance providers. Since our founding in 1990, we have successfully processed claims with hundreds of different insurance companies. Our experience includes thousands of replacements through major carriers including Geico, Farmers, Allstate, USAA, Hartford, and Progressive, as well as numerous regional insurance providers.
Are your technicians certified?
Xpress Auto Glass was among the first auto glass companies to achieve registration with the AGRSS (Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standards Council). AGRSS is an accredited American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards development organization. Our AGRSS registration confirms that our technicians have completed the required training and education to install your windshield properly and safely according to industry-leading AGRSS standards. The Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standards (AGRSS) Council Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to safe auto glass replacement, founded and supported by companies committed to safe installation practices.
Do you provide a free mobile service to replace my windshield or auto glass?
Yes. We offer complimentary mobile service for most installations as a convenience to our customers. We will come to your home or workplace at no additional cost, eliminating the need for you to spend an entire day waiting at a shop.
How long will it take to replace my windshield?
The installation process typically takes between 45 minutes and one hour. However, we recommend waiting before driving your vehicle to ensure it is safe to do so. Safe drive-away times vary based on your vehicle and the adhesive type required, generally ranging from 45 minutes to two hours.
What is OEM quality glass? Is it important?
OEM quality glass refers to glass manufactured by companies contracted to produce glass for vehicle manufacturers. We source most of our glass from Pilkington, PPG, and Mygrant, the three largest original equipment auto glass providers in your area. This is critical because these manufacturers produce glass that meets the rigorous specifications required by your vehicle's maker.
What types of adhesives do you use?
We use Essex 428 adhesives exclusively. Essex is an industry leader in automobile glass replacement adhesives and was our clear choice due to their fast and reliable adhesive system. We utilize their high viscosity and primerless adhesive products, which ensure your new windshield meets FMVSS 208/212 windshield requirements for both dual airbag and non-dual airbag vehicles in as little as 30 minutes and no more than 2 hours under normal conditions (between 32F and 119F with normal humidity).
Does Xpress Auto Glass replace parts other than just the windshield? What about door windows or the back glass?
Yes. We can replace virtually every piece of glass that originally came in your vehicle. Most vehicles contain both laminated and tempered glass. Laminated glass is used for windshields, while tempered glass is typically used for back, door, quarter, and vent windows. We have access to all these parts, and our technicians are fully trained to replace them.
What is the difference between tempered and laminated glass?
Laminated glass is used in windshield manufacturing and consists of two pieces of plate glass with a rubber-like laminate layer between them. This construction protects against penetration from either direction. When a windshield sustains significant damage, it typically remains in one piece. Tempered glass is plate glass that undergoes special heat treatment so that when it breaks, it does not form sharp shards. Most non-windshield glass is tempered, breaking into hundreds of small pieces without the long, sharp edges associated with ordinary broken glass.
What role does the windshield play in my vehicle's safety?
The windshield plays a substantial role in vehicle safety, and this role has grown considerably as automotive innovations like passenger side airbags and lightweight materials have been implemented. The passenger side airbag deploys upward first, then deflects off the windshield toward your passenger, exerting significant pressure on the windshield. Modern vehicles feature increasingly larger windshields and smaller roofs, meaning there is less metal and more glass protecting you during a rollover accident. Using substandard adhesive or windshield glass could prevent your windshield from providing the protection your vehicle's manufacturer designed.
Can you replace my auto glass if it is raining?
We generally do not recommend it. We take great care to equip our installers with the proper tools and equipment to ensure quality installations. Installing auto glass in the rain can create several weather-related challenges for both the customer and the installer. In areas where wet weather is common, we recommend scheduling an in-shop appointment for the best possible installation experience.
Do you offer calibration services?
Yes. Xpress Auto Glass provides calibration services when needed following auto glass service. Our team can determine whether your vehicle requires calibration after a glass replacement and help ensure the appropriate service is completed.
