- TCTammy CadyJun 29, 20265.0I cannot say enough good things about Thomas and Dustin at the Advance Auto Parts store at 985 South 1st Street in Jesup, Georgia. They were friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful when I found myself stranded with a serpentine belt that had come off my car. Thomas immediately went above and beyond by making calls to help me find someone who could repair my vehicle. He also got me the replacement belt I needed. Dustin then stepped in and installed the belt for me, getting me safely back on the road. Because of their kindness and willingness to help, I was able to make it home without having to pay for a tow truck. Their outstanding customer service turned a stressful situation into a positive experience. If you need auto parts or assistance, I highly recommend this store. Go see Thomas or Dustin—they truly care about their customers. Dustin was my saving grace today, and I am so grateful for the help both of them provided!

Dustin let us use tools and fix the car on the side of the store. He helped my husband in between customers. Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
