- BBBS17Aug 21, 20265.0My battery was dead this morning and I had appointments to be at. I’m a woman and it had me somewhat stressed my battery would die again while parked on a very busy street. I hadn’t dealt with a bad battery since I was 20 years old and that was a long time ago. So, I charged it up and went to Advanced Auto Parts. Upon entering, Bobby greeted me immediately. He offered to check my battery to make sure that was the problem. It indeed was the battery so he helped me purchase a new one and even installed it for me! From beginning to end, it took around 15 minutes. I was so impressed with his eagerness to help me solve this issue. Many people are lacking in customer service these days so Bobby was a breath of fresh air! I’m really big on good customer service and the customer service I received at Advanced Auto was fantastic. I will be back for any future needs my family or I may have with our vehicles. Thank you Advanced Auto and Bobby!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
