- KKKamOct 3, 20265.0I had been having some issues starting my car and suspected that the battery was the culprit, especially since I hadn’t replaced it since purchasing my car in 2022. I called Advance Auto Parts to see if they had my battery in stock and was greeted by such a pleasant and helpful gentleman over the phone that I decided to stop by and see if they could assist me. From the moment I walked in, Diego went above and beyond. He was friendly and welcoming, but what stood out most was how thorough and inquisitive he was. He asked several questions to better understand the issue and took the time to conduct an in-depth assessment before determining that the battery was, in fact, the problem. What I appreciated most about Diego, beyond his excellent customer service, was that he took the time to walk me through all of my options. Rather than immediately recommending that I purchase a new battery, he first tested and assessed whether my existing battery could potentially be salvaged and reused. I especially appreciated this as a woman who doesn’t know much about cars. I never felt pressured, talked down to, or as though I was being encouraged to spend money unnecessarily. Ultimately, replacing the battery was the best option, and I’m glad I did. But what made the experience memorable was how comfortable, informed, and respected Diego made me feel throughout the entire interaction. His hospitality, professionalism, work ethic, and genuine willingness to help truly stood out. Diego set the standard for what exceptional customer service should look like, and I sincerely hope he is recognized and rewarded for his efforts. Employees like him are an asset to Advance Auto Parts and make customers want to return. If I experience any other issues with my car, Advance Auto Parts will absolutely be my first stop. Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
