Third visit to Mavis Tires, and somehow it keeps getting better. Billy Ritter doesn’t treat you like a customer—he treats you like a friend. I have genuinely never been as interested in a conversation as I was while talking with Billy. The guy needs to start a podcast—he can make any topic interesting and makes the whole experience enjoyable while you’re waiting.
What really convinced me of Billy’s mechanical abilities was hearing about the vehicles he’s managed to keep running over the years. If he can somehow get his son’s dilapidated, rusted-out cars to remain even mildly drivable, that alone deserves recognition!
Overall he did a fantastic job with my tires and I would come back!

Staff was very helpful. The waiting area is clean and comfortable. When there was a small issue concerning my truck (my fault not the shop) while in the shop, the staff was proactive in finding a solution that got me back on the road with minimal delay. I have been using the Kemp Ridge Rd store for many years and will continue to do so for years to come.

So I scheduled an apt with Mavis to have an alignment and new set of tires installed. I had to take off work to get there and be told they couldn’t get my tires off because my car had the wrong key. Which was not their fault. The lady told me I could purchase the key from auto zone, went there and they said absolutely not. They don’t sell those. Made another apt with Mavis the following day because they said they would get the tool they needed. Get there and sit there from the time they open the door until around 3 pm that afternoon. They ended up having to break the locks on my wheels to get them off. I had to pay extra for that. Okay they get the tires on finally and do the alignment. When they handed me the paperwork he told me if anything happen to my tires nail etc they would be repaired or replaced for no charge. Plus I got free rotation when I needed it. So leave there and my car is still pulling to the side. I go back there and explain to them so they end up telling me the alignment should have never been done on my car because they didn’t have the proper equipment to do an alignment on my type of car. I spent almost 800 dollars that day. He said he would find somebody that could do it for me or they would give my money back but he would call me the following week. Never heard from them and after the 3 rd week I went back in there. Was told oh I haven’t forgot about you just didn’t find anyone yet. But no phone call! So I requested a refund. Well he couldn’t give me cash back because they didn’t have enough cash. So had to leave go all way home to get my bank card so he could refund my money. Which by the way I paid cash! Now a few months later I get a nail in my tire. I go in there thinking okay I’m good they told me it would be covered. She tells me 30 something dollars to plug the tire. The guy goes out to look and said it in my side wall so I have to purchase a new tire. I said but wait it’s supposed to be covered with my tire purchase which was what I was told when I left the store that day. She said nope you didn’t purchase the warranty, I’m like wait what do you mean warranty, nobody offered me a warranty nor did they ever mention anything about a warranty. Why was I told I would be covered free of charge if you have to purchase a warranty. This store is absolutely the worse place I’ve ever done business with and I’m highly disappointed. I lost 2 days of work because of them which was 400 out of my pocket just to turn around and get screwed out of 800 more dollars by this shady business! If negative 5 star was an option you would def get that. -5⭐️
