  The gentleman who assisted me when I arrived was extremely helpful, friendly, funny, and professional. Unfortunately, I don’t remember his name. The lady at the gate was also very friendly and welcoming, and Yousf was an excellent attendant when I returned the vehicle. I do want to mention that this particular location has had some very unhelpful employees in the past. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced unprofessional behavior and situations where employees were dishonest with me, which ultimately led me to stop renting from you after renting vehicles from you consistently for almost two years. I eventually switched to a competitor. That being said, I’m very glad to see a positive change at the Palm Beach location. The staff I dealt with this time were professional, helpful, and courteous. Hopefully, this level of service continues, because it makes a significant difference in the overall customer experience.

  Our car had a nail in the tire which caused a slow leak. Day two of our rental the tire pressure monitor indicator light was on saying that we had a tire pressure in the teens. Roadside assistance stated they would only change the tire and put the spare tire on if we agreed to pay a $78 charge. When I did not agree, they told me I could use my own AAA membership if I wanted to or I could contact PBI National center Directly. For two hours, I attempted to call only to receive the same message. “the person you are calling has a mailbox that is not been set up”. I contacted National customer service the next morning when they opened, and explained the situation to them. They told me Priority message to the manager at PBI to contact me and to expect a phone call. After waiting for an hour, I called back into customer service and requested that they also attempt to contact the national car rental sites at Fort Myers airport and at Naples Airport to see if any of them would be willing to take this car back and give me a new rental. I was told a “high priority” message was sent to all three airports and to again expect a phone call. After another hour and a half of waiting, I finally took the car to a gas station, put air in the tire, and drove it to the Naples airport where I found two attendance sitting in a trailer with no clients. They had not seen or heard of a priority Message being sent to assist me. We ended up downgrading vehicles to a base model car that smelled strongly of marijuana and though we tried to work with customer service to trade this vehicle for a different one, they still could not get anyone, including PBI, to respond to me. Overall, after many years of using National as an executive level member for both business and personal travel, this experience has left me looking for a new vendor for all future car rentals.

  I have used National for essentially my entire career and have always considered them my go-to rental car company. After my wife’s experience with Hunter, the “manager,” tonight, that will be changing. I booked a rental car for my wife under my name. Because of National’s company policy, she was unable to pick up the vehicle. While frustrating, I understand that policies are policies, and that is not the issue. The issue is the way Hunter chose to treat her. Rather than simply explain the policy professionally and respectfully, Hunter berated her, raised his voice at her, and ultimately told her she needed to wait outside — in the rain. This is supposedly the behavior of a manager representing a national brand. There is a significant difference between enforcing a company policy and treating a customer with contempt. Hunter apparently does not understand that distinction. Someone in a management position should be capable of handling a routine customer-service issue without yelling at someone, humiliating them, or sending them outside into bad weather.
