- NLNatalie LucasOct 2, 20265.0Mr. Felix is the GOAT! I was getting ready to go to class today when my car wouldn't start no matter how much I tried to turn it on. This immediately sent me into a panic because 1. I had physics and organic chemistry to go to, 2. I have a physics test coming up, and 3. I am away from my hometown and have nobody to rely on to come help me with car troubles (AKA my dad). I figured out how to jump start my own car with a jump starter battery pack I had, but that was only a temporary fix. Being the 19 year old girl I am, I called my dad in tears and was told to go to the local Costco to have my battery replaced as my original battery was from the Costco in Jacksonville. So I drove all the way to Costco, absolutely bawling, and went into the tire shop asking if I could get my battery replaced. Turns out, they only sold batteries and wouldn't replace mine no matter how bad my situation was. I even had my dad get on the phone and talk to the Costco worker to no avail, and they couldn't even give me tools to replace the battery myself. They couldn't even help me take the battery to my car and so there I was wheeling a gigantic battery to my car in absolute shambles. Mind you, I am not even 5'0", so imagine that. Once I managed to gracefully carry the heavy ass battery to my trunk, I was plagued with what to do next. Luckily, my dad is always two steps ahead of me and had called this Advance Auto Parts shop and asked on my behalf if they could install my battery for me. Once I got to the Advance Auto Parts store, I didn't even have to introduce myself or present my situation. Mr. Felix (who happened to answer my dad's call) asked if I was the one here for a battery installment, and I said yes. Immediately, he comes out to my car, looks at my battery, and goes back inside to get the proper tools needed. As he replaced my battery, he was very quiet and obviously knew what to do. There was no hesitation in any of his movements, and the man did not looked phased by my current chaotic state. Once he was done, he actually had the courtesy to carry my old battery into my trunk. And here is the best part of all. As he closed my hood, I asked him, "How much is this going to cost?" He stared at me, confused, and proceeded to ask "Like how much the battery is? Or for installing it?" I replied back with, "For installing it. How much is it for y'all to replace it?" Of course, nothing in life is free so obviously this was supposed to come with a cost. Mr. Felix proceeded to say, "Ma'am, I'm not going to charge you." Obviously, I was flabbergasted by his kindness and kept asking if he was sure and reassured him that I would be willing to pay however much it would've been. He insisted on not taking my money and said "I have a daughter around your age, so I understand." Once again, I found myself crying but this time out of pure happiness. The kindness that Mr. Felix showed me was what I needed given my rough day and isn't something you see very often nowadays. As a young woman, I expected to be overcharged or taken advantage of due to my lack of knowledge of cars. This wasn't the case at all with Mr. Felix. Mr. Felix was incredibly efficient, professional, and patient throughout the entire process. He didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing how to replace my own battery and showed me kindness when he had no obligation to. To anybody who goes to this Advance Auto Parts, you are in good hands with Mr. Felix! And to his daughter, you are so incredibly lucky to have this man as your father.
