- KMKen M.Aug 23, 20261.0Literally the worst experience ever. The manager Lockwood is extremely unprofessional, rude, aggressive and, unknowledgeable. Customer service is just that serving the customer and this store needs to take a lesson in how that's done correctly. I purchased a part from another store that turned out to be the wrong part, I needed the driver side they sold me the passenger side. That store that I bought the part from had closed on Sunday so my only alternative was to get it from another store. When I got to the Capital Circle Northwest store I was immediately scrutinized as to why I let them sell me the wrong part effectively blaming me for receiving the wrong part. Then Lockwood refused to do a return simply because it was from another store and also stating that I didn't have the physical core as part of the transaction however on my receipt I received Core Credit because I turned in my core to the original store that I bought the part from. Lockwood told me I need to go to the other store and get my core because he won't do it unless he has the physical core in the store which doesn't make sense because if the other store issued me a Core Credit then he has to return the core credit as part of the return transaction. After a few minutes of mostly civil back and forth Lockwood told me quote "you're not worth the effort of sending a driver to get the core from the other store go and get it yourself and bring it here and then maybe I'll do the return." This was single-handedly the most unprofessional customer service experience I've ever had in my life I will never return to the store or do business with that store ever again and I would highly advise anyone considering buying parts from Advance Auto Parts to go to the North Monroe store or the South Monroe store as an alternative.

- MCMark CovenyMay 3, 20231.0I drove there in my truck because I needed a new battery because I knew they could swap them out, but I made a big mistake. 30 minutes after the guy started all I hear him saying is "I don't know why it's not working" so I tried to be helpful and said "Maybe you knocked something loose." This seemed to make him defensive and he said "I didn't knock anything lose." I replied "I'm just trying to help with suggestions, maybe it's a fuse?" To which he said "I'm checking the fuse now." So I left him alone and he couldn't get it working until a customer came up and they started talking. The customer asked if I had a screwdriver which I gave him and it started again. Apparently the employee had shorted out my vehicle while changing the battery and blown more than one fuse. When they tried to take the fuse out they crushed it and then used the metal inside to bypass it (see picture) so that my vehicle would run. I was told to take it to the shop to get the 80A fuse fixed, and when I drove away I noticed my stereo wasn't working now either. I assume the employee crisscrossed the positive and negative terminals to blow the fuses that were working when I drove up, but the whole ordeal wasted an hour of my life just to cost me more money. I would strongly recommend not putting your trust in Advanced Auto Parts technical ability if you don't want your vehicle damaged. *edit 5-11-2023* To get the two fuses fixed and run an electrical test was a total of $186.26 and my truck was in the shop for 3 days. That's pretty expensive for a free battery change service.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
