⭐ 1/5 — Very poor service, communication, and attention to detail.
I went to this Valvoline for an oil change, but the main reason I stopped that day was because my power steering pump was making a loud noise and I knew the fluid was low. I told them before service that I suspected a leak. I asked them to change the oil, fill the power steering fluid, and while the car was accessible, look underneath and tell me which hose, pipe, or component was leaking. I was NOT asking Valvoline to repair it. I only needed the leak identified so I could buy the correct part and repair it myself. They agreed.
They changed the oil and added fluid, which is documented on my invoice, but nobody told me where the leak was. I also forgot to ask again before leaving, so I returned the next day expecting a simple follow-up.
That visit was even more frustrating. The manager, Corey, was not there, and he had not been there during my first visit either. I then dealt with Jhon, whose attitude toward me felt disrespectful and unnecessarily argumentative.
I explained that his coworkers had added power steering fluid the day before and I simply needed help identifying the leak. Jhon spent about 20 minutes looking for the reservoir while repeatedly telling me the car had a “sealed system” and that there was no reservoir. I kept explaining that HIS OWN SHOP had just added the fluid the previous day. Instead of simply asking one of the employees who had worked on my car, he continued arguing with me and searching for something he was insisting did not exist.
There is nothing wrong with an employee not knowing something. The professional response is, “Let me ask someone who knows.” That did not happen. I felt talked down to instead of helped.
To their credit, Dan and another employee were more helpful. One of them actually got underneath my car, looked at the leak, and took a picture. I appreciate that effort. But after two visits, I still did not leave with the simple answer I originally requested: which hose or pipe is leaking?
The lack of attention to detail started before any of this. I have owned this Buick for about two years, yet they processed my entire visit under the previous owner, Bonnie, who is in her 90s and has not been driving this car for years. Apparently she previously used this Valvoline, so her information appeared when they scanned the vehicle. Nobody asked whether she still owned it or even asked me my name. My receipt therefore has the previous owner’s name instead of mine, Danny Tapscott.
By itself, that might be a clerical mistake. Combined with everything else, it reflects my entire experience: employees not asking basic questions, not listening carefully, and not following through on what was discussed.
I was not asking for complicated mechanical work. I asked for an oil change, power steering fluid, and help identifying a visible leak so I could repair it myself. I even came back and gave them another opportunity to help.
Instead, I encountered a manager who was absent both times, an employee arguing with me about a system his own coworkers had serviced the day before, incorrect customer information on my receipt, and poor follow-through on the reason I came there in the first place.
I appreciate the employees who finally made an effort to look underneath the car, but the overall experience left me with very little confidence in the training, communication, supervision, or attention to detail at this location.
I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this Valvoline location.
