- CWCarole WarrickApr 17, 20265.0I went went to start my car (2010 Buick) one morning and the car would not start. The battery was not working. I had the car jumped and went to Advance Auto as the battery was still under warranty. They replaced the battery. Unfortunately, the car would not start. After trying for some time, the issues could not be resolved. Advance Auto suggested I send the car to an auto repair shop to determine the issues. They volunteered to pay the towing cost. The auto repair shop determined a very expensive part had been damaged and must be replaced. Upon advising Advance Auto of this information, they agreed to pay the bill. The manager of Advanced was very kind, helpful and professional every step of the way.

Seriously top-tier help — best DM ever! Bart was also a huge help and deserves credit… but unfortunately for him, John beat him to the heroic moment by about 10.5 seconds. Bart still put up a strong effort though — solid second place finish. We’ll give him another shot at the title next time. All jokes aside, they both were super friendly, extremely helpful, and made the whole thing way easier than I expected. Great team there. I’ll definitely be back (and Bart can start preparing for his comeback).

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
