**Extremely disappointing experience with SIXT Orlando — I feel completely misled**
I have rented from SIXT before and used to tell people about the positive experiences I had. Unfortunately, this rental completely changed my opinion, and I will not choose SIXT again unless it is truly my only option.
The issues started at pickup. I was upsold into an Escalade that I did not need. I was told the larger vehicle was necessary because it was the only option that would accommodate our luggage and that other available vehicles would not work. That was not true. A standard SUV would have met my needs, and I saw plenty of standard SUVs available when I was walking to the vehicle.
The most frustrating part was that I did not realize I was being placed into this specific vehicle until I was already outside with it and the rental contract was complete. To make matters worse, this was a short-wheelbase Escalade, not the larger version. The vehicle description clearly indicates it accommodates approximately three bags, not five as I was led to believe. The employee assisting me should have known this and provided accurate information. A Ford Expedition Max was parked right next to it and though also not neccessary would have been a much more practical, comfortable option — and likely less expensive.
Even worse, my reservation details appear to have been changed without my knowledge when the vehicle was changed. My flight was scheduled to leave at 7:00 PM, so I intentionally scheduled my return for 5:00 PM. Somehow, the return time was changed to 12:00 PM without my approval. Why would I schedule a return for noon when my flight was not until 7:00 PM? Because of this error, when I returned the vehicle at 4:00 PM — an hour earlier than the return time I originally selected — I was charged for being hours “late.” This makes absolutely no sense.
The vehicle itself also had issues. Throughout the week I had it, the theft alarm randomly and repeatedly went off every 15–30 minutes with no one near the vehicle. The liftgate also did not function properly unless I used the interior button. Unfortunately, I was not in a location where I could easily exchange the vehicle, so I had to deal with these issues for the entire rental period.
I contacted SIXT regarding these concerns, but corporate has been unwilling to take responsibility or provide a reasonable resolution. No refund, no meaningful acknowledgment, and no ownership of the multiple problems caused during this rental.
This was not just a poor vehicle experience — it was a frustrating experience from the pickup process through the resolution process. I genuinely feel misled and taken advantage of as a customer.
I would also like to point out that I am a Platinum SIXT member and regularly rent vehicles through corporate travel. This experience is significant enough that I will be reporting it through my company’s global travel program for consideration.
I hope SIXT reviews how they handle upsells, reservation changes, vehicle quality issues, and customer concerns. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend SIXT and will not be renting from SIXT again.

The service was excellent! Our agent at the desk was extremely helpful and patient as we figured some things out. Our flights were delayed and she was understanding and caring about needing to get going. She advised us on traffic and routes to our destination. The only complaint/reason for not having 5 stars is that Sixt does not provide free “additional driver” for the spouse. Seems to be a bit of a nickel and dime for that. Otherwise, all was good.

⚠️ BE AWARE: Fraudulent Fuel Charges & Hidden Fees at Toronto Pearson (Orlando Dr)I pre-booked a rental months in advance using my CIBC points (Voucher value: $646.88 CAD) for a road trip to Niagara Falls and Boldt Castle. The experience at this off-site Orlando Drive location was completely deceptive. REMEMBER TO CHECK OTHER 1 STAR REVIEWS AND SIXT'S LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY IN THEIR RESPONSES.
Misleading Location: Marketed under "Toronto Pearson Airport," but it’s actually an 8-minute drive off-site on Orlando Drive.
Long Delays & Broken Cars: We waited nearly an hour to be served by an agent named Leo. Our pre-booked vehicle wasn't available ( was later told Q5 has a damaged door) , so we were assigned a Volvo. When we got in, the driver-side mirror was physically broken and wouldn't open.
The 5-Star Review Trap: Leo switched us to a Mini, claiming it was a "free upgrade" and explicitly promising a free tank of fuel so we didn't have to fill it up. In exchange, he aggressively asked us to ensure we gave him a 5-star review.
The Deception: Upon returning the car, the lot attendant verbally assured me everything was clear and marked full. Today, I received an invoice charging me $191.79 CAD for fuelling, an additional driver fee of $69.95 CAD, and an inflated 15.60% Premium Location Charge ($118.08 CAD).The Result: They wiped out my prepaid voucher and charged my Visa an extra $341.90 CAD.
This branch relies on verbal lies to secure high review scores while secretly sticking customers with hundreds in hidden fees. Avoid Leo and avoid this location!
NEXT ACTION- WRITING TO CORPORATE AND ASSUMING THERE WILL BE NO ACCOUNTABILITY..WILL BE DISPUTING THROUGH MY CREDIT CARD

So we had a reservation..at 830am feels like a Seinfeld episode.. landed got bags and summoned the shuttle.as directed, 3 xs over 45 min.. dont try calling either .. 72 min later shuttle shows and people dont care if youre waiting .. I expected the shuttle driver announce the names for the shuttle.. (I dont know why they would do that) got bumped because we arent rude... I should have ubered to the office rental location... arrived at 10:43 only to find our paid for Jeep no longer avail as we watch it drive off.. so.i hope this review helps you navigate this better than I did.. But wait there's way more.. prepaid for.the car on priceline... only to find out an additional 900 for tolls, 2nd driver, 500 bucks hold on a credit card maybe on a débit but never on a credit card.. so prepare yourself to gobble up a grand on a card during your stay.. or go to Budget
I was extremely satisfied with my experience with Sixt Car Rental. The entire process was easy, convenient, and stress-free from start to finish. The instructions provided were clear and simple to follow, making both the pickup and return process seamless. I especially appreciated the transparency regarding charges, including the deposit amount, with no unexpected fees or surprises—something that sets Sixt apart from many other rental car companies. I also loved being able to pick up my vehicle without needing to interact with anyone, which made the process even more efficient. When I returned the car, the staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming. Overall, my experience exceeded my expectations, and I can confidently say that Sixt has earned my loyalty. I absolutely loved my experience and will be choosing Sixt for all of my future car rental needs. I HIGHLY recommend this car rental company to everyone.
