Took my truck right in since they knew I was in a hurry because I was on my way out of town. The girl at the counter said she will call me.
Waited 2 hrs and when I got back they said " oh we cant work on your car because your tires are to old" BUT COULDN'T CALL ME SO I MADE IT TO ANOTHER PLACE?!
Now no place is open and im screwed.
And wasted 30 min driving there and 30 back + 2hr waiting.

Had a good experience at Mavis Tires. The team was professional, explained the issue clearly, and confirmed that the nail in my tire was repairable. They were straightforward about the services they could and could not perform, which I appreciated. Overall, friendly service and a helpful visit. Thank you!

Aftermarket alternator replacement, $300 at Autozone. Their aftermarket charge was $700.
They charged over 3.5 hours ($600) for labor when I’ve replaced them alone, by myself in about 2 hrs.
$1300 total, not including taxes.
Enough said.
Update: Their customer service was spot on. Working with the regional manager, was able to reach a win/win situation immediately. Overall Service rendered was excellent.

The Mavis in Jonesville has some of the best customer service that I’ve ever dealt with when it comes to auto repair. I’ve had two situations where a tire on my truck was loosing air from a damaged valve. This isn’t a quick, shove a plug in it, air it back up and go. They took care of me both times without an appointment, and last time they fixed it at closing time. I will continue to give them my business and recommend them to others. Friendly, courteous, customer service is hard to find.

Last week, my vehicle began overheating, so I brought it in on Saturday. I was told the shop was very busy and that they would get to it as soon as possible. By 4:30 p.m., shortly before closing, they informed me they had not been able to inspect it and scheduled me for a 10:00 a.m. appointment the following morning, assuring me they would be able to diagnose it then.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, I received a call stating that the issue was likely either the thermostat or the water pump, but they were fairly confident it was only the thermostat. I was quoted approximately $730 after taxes, but was told the repair could not be completed until Monday.
Because I had a work flight scheduled out of Tampa on Monday morning, I had to rearrange my travel plans, fly out of Gainesville instead, and make additional arrangements for my dog. While inconvenient, I understood delays happen and worked around the situation.
The following morning, I received another call from the store manager informing me that after further inspection, the vehicle needed both a thermostat and a water pump. The revised estimate was approximately $2,400—a significant increase from the previous quote.
Concerned by the dramatic price difference, I contacted the Gainesville Jeep dealership and provided the exact repairs and parts I had been quoted. Their estimate came back at $1,086. After I shared this information with Mavis, the store manager stated he was able to “majorly discount” the repair, bringing the total down to $1,186.
When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, I was told the final total was $1,186 after a $222 discount. Still wondering where they got $2400 from.
My concern is not necessarily that additional repairs were required, but rather the lack of consistency and transparency throughout the process. Going from a $730 estimate to $2,400, only to then arrive at a final price close to the dealership’s estimate, makes it difficult to understand how the original pricing was determined.
I’ve since spoken with several friends who are also customers, and some have shared similar concerns about recent experiences. I am a women and I do not know anything about cars or repairs, but I do know to get a second opinion when something seems wrong.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning for future service and cannot confidently recommend this location to others.
