I’m a Naples local and have been coming to this particular Advance Auto Parts location for years, and I’ve always had positive experiences—until today. I stopped in to purchase two quarts of oil, and in the past, staff has kindly helped add it for me until I could get a full oil change. When I asked for assistance today, Alex C, the employee who checked me out, was extremely rude. He looked at me as if I didn’t know what I was talking about and questioned me in a way that made it clear he didn’t want to help. Another employee, who I assume was a manager, told him he could go assist me, but instead, Alex just stood there and stared at me without saying anything for several seconds. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. At that point, I picked up the oil, told him not to worry about helping, and left. Really disappointing experience, especially considering how positive my visits have been here in the past.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
