Great experience from start to finish — rented two SUVs during the same trip (one for 5 days, another for 1 day) and both experiences were smooth and hassle-free. The vehicles were in great condition and exactly what you’d expect. With the first rental I did have a minor issue with the air conditioning, but I went back to the airport within minutes and they swapped it out immediately — no questions asked, no extra charge, and actually gave me an upgrade to a better vehicle. That kind of response is exactly what good customer service looks like. What I also appreciated: they charged exactly what was quoted on the app. No surprises, no hidden fees. Refreshingly straightforward. Will definitely rent with Alamo again.

Great car hire experience & easy process, we pre-filled the registration documents out before arrival and headed straight to the Alamo desk. It’s a bit of a trek when arriving at Miami airport (MIA) as you have to get the train over to the terminal, collect your luggage and then get the train back to collect the car - so lots of walking around. As soon as we’d got our paperwork from the rental counter we headed to the garage and were told to pick any of the Mustangs that were ready. Loaded up the luggage, sorted the seats and mirrors and headed out. You’ll need your driving license again on exit so don’t put it away, we pre paid for the tank of fuel so that we could just return the car without worrying about refuelling it (I got caught out with this in Orlando one time cos the gas station was on the wrong side of the freeway and it cost me dearly!) Apple CarPlay is standard on most cars now, there’s no need to pay for a satnav but make sure you’ve got roaming data turned on if travelling from overseas otherwise it won’t work. Always wise to have a charging cable handy too just in case it’s not wireless CarPlay. The car itself was great, never driven a convertible before, although it’s a 4 seater you’d never get 4 people in it comfortably and certainly not get your luggage in, the ventilated & cooled seats were a blessing in the scorching Florida heat. Lots of roads in South Florida are toll expressways so we went to Publix and bought a Sunpass mini pass for $4.99 and loaded some credit so that we could use the Toll roads. No hesitation in recommending Alamo whatsoever

I normally hire from Alamo due to the choice of cars and being able to pick it yourself however when I booked a intermediate SUV, on arrival they had told me that no intermediate suv was available so I had to pick a standard suv. With the standard suv they only had 2 choices which wasn’t great so I picked from the premium crossover section. I picked up a dodge Durango which was a good car itself however they charged me $20 a day extra. Me picking this car is due to the lack of options at MIA airport which shouldn’t happen for such a big airport. I wanted to speak to the manager but she wasn’t interested and didn’t care. The only positive thing I can say about the staff is the lovely lady at the desk was nice.

I chose to rent from Alamo for my recent trip to Florida for my son's college graduation. My wife and I flew into Miami instead of Ft. Lauderdale because it was significantly cheaper. We further chose to rent from Alamo because their rates were the cheapest of the "main brand" rental companies. I was tempted by the super-low prices offered by the off-brand/off-location rentals but opted for a known brand instead. When we arrived, (late-morning on a Friday), almost every rental company had significant lines and dwindling inventory. We had reserved a mid-size SUV but all that was available were full-size vans or a very small number of sedans. Because of the increasing ability to skip the counter and go straight to a vehicle, it was a bit like, "Mad Max" with people just jumping in vehicles and claiming them. One of the agents in the garage assisting customers who were waiting for a vehicle approached us and offered us a Toyota Camry. Given it was literally the last vehicle available at that moment in time, we gladly accepted, rather than wait an unknown length of time for a specific vehicle in our rental class, because it was just two of us with two suitcases. In spite of the minor inconvenience, the Camry we received was relatively new and in good shape. It was clean and functioned properly. It ended up being an excellent choice as it averaged 50+mpg and ended up costing me less than $20 to refill upon return, in spite of driving over 200 miles in 4 days. Add to that, the ease of return and overall friendliness and professionalism of both the dispatching and return agents, my overall experience was excellent. I'm sure many other people would have allowed the initial inconvenience to completely overshadow the rental experience but given the relative uncertainties of exact arrival and departure times, the staff were all doing the best they could to assist their customers.

I had a very frustrating experience with Alamo Rent a Car at Miami International Airport. I reserved a car in advance through the app and entered all my information honestly. I am an international customer, but I have a valid U.S. driver’s license, which I also provided during the reservation process. The system accepted my license and allowed me to complete the booking without any issues. However, when I arrived to pick up the car, I was told that because I had registered as an “international customer” in the app, they could not give me the vehicle—even though I presented a valid U.S. driver’s license. This made no sense, especially since the app had already accepted my information and confirmed the reservation. Because of this situation, I struggled to find another rental car on short notice. Most reputable companies had no vehicles available at that time, which caused significant stress and disrupted my plans. This experience seriously affected my vacation. If you are going to reject customers based on how they are categorized in your system, then your app should not allow the reservation in the first place. Accepting a booking and then denying service at pickup is unacceptable. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend relying on this location.
