- JRJader RomeroFeb 27, 20261.0I had a really frustrating experience at the Discount Auto Parts on Flagler and 109th. Every time I go there, the customer service is disappointing. The lady at the counter and the older gentleman who only speaks Spanish never seem willing to help. Today I went in just looking for a simple windshield washer hose for a Jeep Cherokee. After checking the computer, she said she didn’t understand what I needed and didn’t know which part it was. Instead of trying to help or asking more questions, it felt like they just wanted to brush me off. When customers walk into an auto parts store, it’s usually because they need help finding the right part. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the attitude at this location. I ended up leaving and going to AutoZone around the corner, where they helped me right away and got me exactly what I needed.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
