I rented a vehicle on Friday for a planned family vacation to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, with our departure set for late Saturday evening after I finished work. When I went to load our luggage on Saturday night, I discovered the car was infested with live German cockroaches.
Putting my family—which included my wife, my son, his wife, my two grandchildren, and my goddaughter—into a pest-infested vehicle for a 12-hour drive with all of our personal belongings was an absolute dealbreaker and a severe health hazard.
This ruined the start of our vacation and caused major delays:
Forced Delay & Extra Travel: Because no local Enterprise branches are open on Sunday mornings, I had to travel all the way to the airport branch early Sunday to exchange the infested car, return home, reload, and start our drive hours behind schedule.
Missed Reservations: The delay caused us to miss our scheduled ziplining appointment and delayed our check-in at our Airbnb, costing us time and money on our first night.
The post-rental customer service has been completely non-existent:
1. Branch Return: Upon returning the vehicle, the employee informed me the manager was off for the weekend and promised a follow-up call.
2. Delayed Follow-Up & Lack of Resolution: Nearly two weeks passed before I finally received a call from the manager at the Lakeland location, only to be told he didn't have the authority to make adjustments and had to reach out to regional management.
3. Unauthorized Charges: The very next day, Enterprise went ahead and charged my account for the rental experience despite the health hazard and inconvenience.
4. Ignored Escalations: I called Enterprise corporate customer service to report the issue and received no callback. I followed up again 72 hours later, and to this day, no one from management or corporate has reached out to resolve this or refund my money.
To hand over an infested vehicle to a family and then charge them while ignoring repeated customer service calls is completely unacceptable. I expect a prompt callback from regional management and a full refund for this nightmare experience.

Had a great total experience. Had the opportunity to upgrade when I arrived and added a day which was seamless. Clean facility and good car selection. Lakeland South Fl Ave will be my go to! Staff was great
Went there today to talk about renting a car. Walked in, there was 1 guy in there helping a customer. He says nothing to me, walks outside to show a car, still says nothing to me, so I left. Yall obviously dont want my business if you dont have the common courtesy to at a minimum, greet me and say I will be right with you.

I will no longer be renting from this Enterprise location. Unfortunately, this is not the first negative experience I’ve had here.
Today, my mom and I arrived to pick up her reservation, which was scheduled for 6:00 p.m. We were refused service by both the staff and the manager because they said the location closed at 6:00 p.m. When we asked why the reservation system allowed us to book a pickup at the exact time the location closes, we were never given an answer.
The manager then asked for the name on the reservation and claimed he had been trying to contact us all day. However, there were no missed calls, voicemails, emails, or text messages. We had also completed the online pre-check-in ahead of time.
Even after explaining that we had received no communication, the manager still refused to help. He then got into his personal vehicle and left, leaving us standing outside without any attempt to resolve the situation.
One detail that stood out was that the manager was wearing a T-shirt that said, “Jesus died for you.” Regardless of anyone’s personal beliefs, I expect customer service to reflect professionalism, courtesy, and a willingness to help solve problems.
At the end of the day, I’m not trying to be a nuisance or leave a negative review just for the sake of it. But this isn’t the first time I’ve had a poor experience at this location. There seems to be a consistent pattern of staff being dismissive, disrespectful, and unwilling to help when issues come up. That’s disappointing, and it’s ultimately why I won’t be renting from this location again.
Update: Enterprise responded asking us to contact customer service. We have already filed a report through the link they provided. Our concern isn’t simply that the reservation couldn’t be fulfilled, it’s how the situation was handled. The manager stated he had been trying to contact us all day, yet there were no missed calls, voicemails, emails, or text messages. When we pointed that out and showed there had been no communication, the manager didn’t address it or offer any alternative.
Instead, he got into his personal vehicle and left, leaving us to figure out how to get a rental on our own. We ultimately had to drive all the way to the Orlando airport just to get a car. Based on the number of recent reviews describing negative experiences with management at this location, I sincerely hope Enterprise takes the time to look into what’s happening here. It’s genuinely disappointing as to how much of a lack of respect and honesty there is at this location.
