Instead of selling me the battery and letting me install myself, or allowing me to hold a beach umbrella while they install, the employees came up with a number of reasons that they couldn't make the transaction including suggesting the vehicle needed to be serviced at the dealership for a battery or the battery may be in an odd location. Very poor customer service. If Advance Auto workers don't install batteries in the rain, Advance Auto and their employees should make it known without trying to gaslight customers. Advance Auto lost my business today and into the future.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
