  I had a terrible rental experience at Gainesville Regional Airport recently. Under rental agreement, I was scheduled to return the vehicle by 3:30 PM on August 17, 2026, with an agreed total charge of $194.16. I returned the vehicle at approximately 2:30 PM that same day. However, I was later charged an amount that does not match my rental agreement due to an apparent error in processing my return. At the time of return, I handed the key to a National representative at the counter and was told my return was complete. The following day, I received a message stating the vehicle was still due, indicating that the return had not been properly closed. This created immediate confusion, as I had already completed the return in person as instructed. I contacted the Gainesville office for clarification and was required to make multiple calls to resolve both the return status and the billing discrepancy. The process was disorganized and time-consuming, requiring repeated explanations on my part. I was also dissatisfied with the customer service I received. Communication was at times unclear, and I found the interactions unprofessional, including one instance in which a call was abruptly ended. Overall, I did not feel the issue was handled with appropriate care or efficiency. While I understand that administrative errors can occur, the combination of incorrect return processing, inconsistent information, and poor service made this experience unacceptable.

  I had an excellent experience with National Car Rental in Gainesville, FL, especially thanks to Mercedes P and Assistant Branch Manager Fadi M. Despite having a reservation and an unusually high demand for vehicles, the branch had no loaners available when I arrived. Rather than simply turning me away, Mercedes and Fadi went above and beyond by personally coordinating with another local branch and retrieving a vehicle so they could accommodate me. Their professionalism, initiative, and genuine commitment to helping a customer really stood out. They could have easily said there were no cars available, but instead they found a solution and made sure I was taken care of. Excellent customer service from both Mercedes and Fadi. They are a great representation of what customer service should look like. Highly recommend this National Car Rental location!

  I recently rented here, I had a rental with Budget but they were impossible to work with, so I walked over to National and Safwan Binmahfouz was incredible and got it done for me. He saved the day and my whole trip.

  I fly into Gainesville frequently, you can never count on your flight arriving on time, this airport closes around 11 pm other rental car agencies close (Budget) and don't leave agents available to help customers,,, National knows cancellations and delays happen they make arrangements to have someone there waiting for me, they do not charge extra for good customer service and call it something stupid like travel insurance,, travel insurance is a made up phrase by disreputable companies to steal money from customers,,, I for one will not play there game I will always pick a company like National who chooses good business practices over fraudulent, deceptive, misleading ones, I CHOOSE to be a retuning loyal customer Appreciatively John

  Fadi is by far the rudest person I’ve ever met at a rental car counter. Ever. Wouldn’t rent to us… for no reason other than him being wrong about their own corporate policies, which we knew better than he did. Zero stars. Other people are kinder and competent at all the other companies who rented with a smile.
