My girlfriend needed a tire patched when I was out of town. She took the car to their shop and was told that the tire was too old to patch . Not only this, but would need all four tires swapped out. She just got these tires within the last 6 months. Maybe don’t try to upsell people when it’s not called for. Scam.

Got new tires with alignment ($1400). Took extra long. Left with Systems Check light on they couldn’t figure out. Dealer said they forgot to reset electronics, another $150. They weren’t convinced it was an issue, we’re going to escalate and call back. It’s been a week and a lot of time. At very least should pay our $150 extra IMO.

My daughter is away from home attending UF, and I'm far away to help her when she got a flat tire. I sent her to Mavis simply because it was close to her apartment. I'm so glad I did. They were so friendly, and the customer service was above and beyond. Tess was so helpful, and cheerful over the phone. She reassured me they would take good care of my little girl. There was no upselling, or pressure to buy anything except what she came for. I love that!!! Thank you for looking out for my daughter. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

I came to Mavis Tire & Brakes because I needed an alignment. They inspected my truck and told me that I needed both the inner and outer tie rods replaced on both sides before they could perform the alignment. They gave me a quote of around $1,248 for the repair, including about $500 in labor at $165 an hour. They were estimating roughly 3 hours of labor for the job.
To be fair, the employees I dealt with were nice, friendly, and professional, and I will give them credit for correctly identifying that the inner and outer tie rods needed to be replaced. My issue was not with the diagnosis or the customer service—it was the price.
I called around to other shops in Gainesville and was getting quotes between $500 and $575 for the same general repair. I eventually decided to have a mobile mechanic come out and do the work, and they replaced the tie rods for $300.
I completely understand that different shops have different labor rates, overhead, and pricing, but the difference between $1,248 and $300 was simply too much for me to justify. I don’t mind paying a fair price for quality work, but I felt the quote from Mavis was extremely high compared with the other options available.
Overall, I appreciate that they were friendly and that their diagnosis was accurate, but I feel the repair was significantly overpriced. Because of the pricing, unfortunately I won’t be returning.
