We were traveling from NJ to Southwest Florida to take care of our granddaughter. We were in Gainesville, stopped at a red light, when we were hit from behind by a 19 year old with a small child in the back seat. Our mini-van was undrivable, hers was ok. The police required our car to be towed off the road, leaving us stranded - with a 12 1/2 year old chocolate lab - on the sidewalk, in the pouring rain. The police took pity on us, and drove us to the nearest Enterprise Car Rental site (3423 SW Williston Rd, Gainesville). Cassandra was outside, cleaning a recently returned car, but assisted us immediately. We needed to rent a mini-van, as we had luggage, dog ramps, crutches (we are 72 and husband has bad knees and hips), food, and gifts. However, at this site, there were only small sedans. Cassandra phoned the Enterprise Site at 410 NW 39th Ave, spoke to Devonte, who said that he would try to locate a suitable vehicle for us. By now, it was 2:00, the towing yard closed at 5, and we needed to move our items from our damaged car to the rental...again in the pouring rain. Devonte brought us the larger car, filled out the paperwork, and had us on our way by 3:00 pm. We were able to get to the towing yard before they closed and started our 5 hour trip to our son's house. We rented the van for two weeks, and then had to add another week, as our car took a long time to repair. We arranged the third week's rental over the telephone with absolutely no trouble at all. Twenty days later, we returned the car to the Enterprise site on 410 39th Street. There we met Samuel, who inspected our car and stated that it is the cleanest car that was ever returned to the Enterprise! Boy did he make us feel good. Now, he may say that to all of his clients, but the sincerity in his voice made us feel special, and that is important after the trauma that we had been through. Samuel was patient and kind and really made sure that we understood all of the charges for the rental. I asked for a printed copy so that I could send it to the insurance company of the driver that hit me. He gave me exactly what I needed.
As I said, we are 72, and have had only one other accident (when a deer ran in front of us,) so this was a serious issue for us. Many things had to be done electronically, which was another nightmare. But dealing with the Enterprise staff was the BEST PART of our "vacation." I hope that management can award these three employees for their caring attitude, efficiency, hard work (on the part of Cassandra) (cleaning a car in the rain) and the overall way that they represented the company. These three employees communicated very well, were pleasant, looked you in the eye when they talked...(not many young people do that these days)...were compassionate, and put our needs first, and we are grateful. Thank you to whoever hired them! Sincerely, Mike and Bonnie
