- GGG GoodAug 6, 20261.0A car battery that I had purchased from this location failed prematurely, but was still under warranty. I came to advance auto parts around 7pm for them to check/replace the battery but was met with contempt and hostility from an employee there named Mohammed. He refused to change the battery even when I explained that I've come there many times in the past and they've always changed the battery. He simply explained that whoever changed my car batteries in the past were breaking the rules and that I am to do it myself. So after some fruitless back and forth with him, I simply went out and removed the battery myself. He then told me that they have to trickle charge the battery before they can test it properly. So I would need to leave the battery there overnight. I said well that's ridiculous. How would I get home tonight and he shrugged his shoulders. I said the battery is under warranty. Why can't you just replace it? He said no, It must be trickle charged first overnight. I let them trickle charge it for 45 minutes or so. It was now dark outside and close to their closing time, so I went inside to get the verdict on the battery and he announced that the battery is defective and surprisingly they will honor the warranty. However, I still had to go back outside in the dark and put the battery in myself with an adjustable wrench that he handed me. I asked him for his name and the number to corporate and I tried to call them while I was still in his presence but they were closed. I did however call first thing the next morning and they seemed horrified about the details of what happened and promised to investigate.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
