Hector & Ryan, working at this store, saved us when my wife and I drove down from the Villages to pick up our granddaughter from the St. Pete Airport. My alternator went out while at the airport in my Toyota Tundra, and I had just enough battery left to make it to Advanced Auto. When I walked in, not knowing at all what I was going to do, Hector and Ryan greeted me, and they could tell I was in a bad situation. To make a very long story short. I purchased the alternator from them, and since this Tundra repair was crazy detailed, it could not be a mobile repair; it would need a shop to install it. We decided to take a risk. They charged my battery to a full charge .... I started my truck, and my voltage gauge showed I had good voltage. Off we went, driving on battery power only. We turned everything off in my truck, including the air conditioning, and it seemed to allow me time to drive. I watched the voltage meter as I drove, and believe it or not, we made it to Brookeville, where I pulled over and had the battery charged again. We made it home, where now I can make my repair. I can't say enough about how much this kind of help meant. Great job, Advanced Auto!

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
