They broke my rearview mirror trying to remove it, because they don't know how it was to be dismantled. The young man called me to say trim around mirror has super glue, but that trim directly on mirror DOESNT NEED REMOVED TO twist off the rearview mirror. When twisted to remove, that trim comes off with it, because it houses a sensor behind it. They left it dangling by the wire, with the sensor exposed and not hooked up because he didn't give me back the trim, because I'm assuming it broke into pieces because it's not meant to be removed with mirror on the windshield! But they don't know this since they don't use official work instructions from Audi. They also put 2 holes in my real leather dash on my Audi A8 because they do Not cover the dash when working on other people's vehicles. I use covers when I do my mechanic work always! No respect, .y dash and buttons and console covered in debris from them working. Windshield all smeared and nasty still with sweaty arms. Unacceptable employee working on this. All photos included. Before windshield replaced I have a photo showing the outside of mirror where the mirror attaches, as you see from photos it's all dark just below the triangle camera tint cut out. Those pictures are dated at bottom right from my cell phone a month or more ago, see before and after in all photos. Still have the files with dates in the original details. Other pictures show after they replaced Windshield, as you see the area that's dark below the untinted triangle area is not dark, because they pulled straight out to try remove camera, thereby removing the adhesive in a damaging way. When doing this they stripped the plastic prongs that the mirror locks onto, basically flattening them out. Now the mirror will not lock, and the prongs that are metal are bent out. A new mirror alone won't fix this, because the mount is attached by adhesive back onto the new windshield, and they stripped that. I would now need a new mirror, and the mount that attaches to the windshield to make this back to normal. Windshield replaced at Apopka location, trim on mirror stated had super glue, I said it's fine if it cracks removing it, and I can repair if needed. Previously I was able to remove mirror when servicing my camera module to be recalled/repaired without damaging trim, but the tech at Safelite could not. When I got my Audi A8 back, the inside dash and console was very dirty with debris, inside buttons and all over, a mess!! He also stated he could not get the rearview mirror to stay on, and I know you have to remove by turning counterclockwise a quarter turn and pull lightly when unlocked, because I am an Audi technician mechanic with Audi official ODIS scanning software and repair diagnostic laptop. When I got the car back he said it won't stay up, I just assumed he didn't turn it to lock it, but when I tried to, he already bent the prongs by pulling it off forcibly, and stripped the plastic prongs on the mount attached to the windshield that locks the metal prongs on mirror, because now it won't even lock in and stay up. I now have no rearview mirror at all. I will be reporting this to my insurance and will NEVER USE SAFELITE AGAIN. Doesnt Safelite have Audi factory instructions on removing what's needed to get the windshield off? Or do you make the techs all just guess? Broken parts on my vehicle and a dirty mess after working. This is pathetic and I UNEXCEPTABLE!!! E-. I won't settle for anything except this being fixed, no matter my cost up front. I know this is the employees fault who thinks it's acceptable to work this way, not the owners, and I respect that. Owner may not even know his employee working this poorly. That is why I am willing to remove and edit this positively if he is willing to make this right. My insurance team will be in touch, since I will utilize them first. I have 6 cars insured and never had any issues with my insurance in decades, so I know they will have my back all the way.
