I am extremely disappointed with the service I received here today.
I brought my vehicle in for an oil change because I am preparing to drive approximately 15 hours back to my home state of Illinois tomorrow and wanted to make sure my vehicle was properly serviced before such a long trip. I was actually still about 1,000 miles away from my next scheduled oil change, and my vehicle had not given me an oil change, battery, or check-engine warning. I was simply trying to be proactive before traveling.
When I arrived, I was checked in and was told that there was supposedly no oil in my car, which immediately concerned me because my vehicle had given me no indication that I was low on oil. After being told this, I was also charged a cleaning fee. In addition, they did not have the oil I originally requested in stock, so I was forced to use a higher grade oil, which was a $25 difference, and I was only given a $15 discount to offset it. In total, I ended up paying $157 for this service.
During the service, my battery died. The employee told me he didn’t know why it died and suggested that my battery might need to be replaced. I explained that my battery had been fine and that my vehicle’s app had not alerted me to any battery problems.
Then the manager came over and asked the employee if he had left my vehicle’s lights on. The employee admitted that YES, he had left my lights on.
Because of this, they had to JUMP-START my vehicle. After my vehicle was jumped, my CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I arrived at this business without a check-engine light, without a battery warning, and with a vehicle that was running normally. I left with a vehicle that had to be jumped, a check-engine light illuminated on my dashboard, and new concerns about the overall condition and reliability of my car.
What is even more frustrating is that there was NO OFFER to diagnose or correct the new issue, NO offer to compensate me, and seemingly no concern about the additional expense I may now have to pay to have my vehicle inspected because of something that occurred while my vehicle was in their care.
I specifically came here because I am supposed to make a 15-hour drive the following day and wanted the peace of mind of knowing my vehicle had been serviced before traveling. Instead, I left MORE concerned about the condition of my vehicle than I was when I arrived.
As a professional automotive service provider, leaving a customer’s lights on until the battery dies, having to jump-start the vehicle, not having the correct oil in stock, charging additional fees, and then sending the customer away with a check-engine light that was not on when they arrived—without offering to diagnose the issue or provide any compensation—is completely unacceptable.
I now have to spend additional time and potentially additional money having my vehicle checked before I can safely make my trip. I would NOT recommend this location based on my experience today.
