- AAAlex AFeb 4, 20221.0Step 1: park. Step 2: pay at the kiosk with credit card or by text. Step 3: return to your vehicle a short time later and within the time for which you paid to find your vehicle towed by CT Auto and Towing in West Hartford. This exact scenario happened to me this week on Feb. 2nd and I can't emphasize enough that you must stay away from this LAZ parking lot. I did exactly as the customer is directed to do by first entering the license plate number then entering the parking time desired and paying by credit card. After waiting for nearly 10 minutes in the rain for the credit card machine to do what it is designed to do (process payment), I took a picture of the screen (seen here) after removing my credit card as directed. I had no need for a $10 receipt and no direction to wait (and for how long?!) for a confirmation code. I woke up the next morning and walked to my vehicle in said lingering cold rain to find it towed by CT Auto. According to Keith and Casey at CT Auto I should have gone over and above what was asked of me by waiting to receive some type of confirmation that the payment machine accepted my credit card. In other words, I should have waited (and waited...) to confirm that the machine did what it is supposed to do: accept my payment. I was required to pay $159.53 cash to retrieve my impounded vehicle from CT Auto because I, the customer, should have somehow made certain the LAZ machine was working properly. I sense a scam and plan to report this incident to the City of Hartford, Better Business Bureau and any other entity with an interest in attracting paying humans to downtown Hartford.
