  Awful experience. My 18 year-old niece visited this location last night to have her battery tested. One of the Advance Auto Parts employees tested the battery and determined that it needed to be replaced. My niece purchased a new battery, and the employee installed it. Unfortunately, the employee installed the battery backwards. Sparks flew! The employee removed the battery and reinstalled it correctly! As a result, the main fuse in the fuse block was blown, and there was no longer any power to the vehicle. It was between 8:30 and 9:00 pm, and my niece contacted me for help. There wasn’t much that could be done that late in the evening, so she left her vehicle in the parking lot overnight until we could meet her the following morning. My husband, my niece, and I returned to the vehicle around 9:30 am. I stayed with the car while my husband and niece went into the Advance Auto Parts store. Renee greeted them, and my husband asked to speak with a Store Manager about what had occurred the night before. Another associate, Carlos, approached them and said, “The Store Manager isn’t here today. He’ll be in tomorrow,” before throwing down the manager’s business card. When my husband attempted to explain the situation, Carlos became unreasonably irritated and aggressive. Renee stood by and watched as Carlos proceeded to scream and yell at my husband and niece, dropping multiple F-bombs and behaving in an extremely unprofessional manner. My husband never once raised his voice or swore at Carlos. Carlos’ behavior was completely unhinged. My husband again asked to speak with the Store Manager following the incident. Carlos allegedly called his manager, Anthony Montoya, and then walked away. When he returned, he told my husband, “My manager isn’t coming in, and he doesn’t want to talk to you. He will be in tomorrow.” I would have a hard time believing that something had not been done to provoke Carlos, given how irrationally he behaved. However, his coworker Renee appeared equally concerned and caught off guard by his behavior. Thankfully, Renee corroborated our account of what happened, and there is video footage that should substantiate our claims. She went from what should’ve been a simple battery replacement to needing a new battery, main fuse, and God knows what other electrical components were damaged in the process. The main fuse is only locally available through the Honda dealership and they are closed on Sundays. So frustrating! This is definitely not how we expected to start our Sunday morning. The way this situation was handled—from the incorrect battery installation that left the vehicle without power to the subsequent interaction with Carlos—was completely unacceptable. We will never shop at this location again. Visit at your own risk.

  I came to the store on Alameda and teller street. I needed help with a battery. Desperately for my car, I had to work the same night. Anthony Montoya was the person who helped me very courteous. Very helpful, very knowledged. Lend me tools to go across the street to the apartments where I lived. The correct tools made the job so much easier, taking it out and putting the new battery in. Uh, I can't say. How much he helped me take? The stress off of me made me feel like a friend. He went over and beyond. I recommend this store to anybody who needs auto parts or advice. Especially ask for Anthony Montoya.
