We had their platinum roundside assistance program. We had a break down in our car less then 30 miles from our home. When we called we were told that they would only tow the vehicle to a safe space like a parking lot or to their preferred repair shop. Told the representative that we wanted it towed to our home or to our mechanic. The representative said to do that we would be charged $156, because it was after hours and that we wanted it towed to our preferred location. We declined and I canceled our service with them the next day.

If I could give you a zero I would. This is my second encounter and you have failed me twice. Today we lost our keys to our RV and called roadside assistance. 4 hours later no help was sent and I am currently still locked out. I stressed to roadside that our food and water were locked in our RV along with my husband’s daily medications and my contacts. This also meant we had no where to sleep for the night. A manager called me and told me to call a locksmith ourself and the hung up on me. That is very unprofessional. I told her that is what I pay you to do. This is a breech of contract and you have put my husband’s health at risk. You need to take an interest in your customers and also fix your processes.

Good Sam Roadside assistance is a scam. I get a different answer on whats covered every time I call. I had it towed to a shop they asked me where it needed to go. Then it needed to go to another mechanic as that one said it was a different problem, and I checked to make sure that it could be towed again and I was told yes. Then when I called to have it towed to another shop they said it wasn't covered. But I am supposed to have unlimited tows....

In July of 2024 I purchased a two year platinum policy with an expiration date of 7/8/2026. About 90 days prior to my expiration, I was charged $284.91 for a two year renewal. I immediately called Good Sam Roadside Assistance (GSRA) and informed them that I did not want to auto renew but I would make my decision at the end of my current policy on 7/8/2026. They agreed, and said I would be refunded the $284.91. On 6/26/2026 I received another email advising that my policy was being cancelled effective immediately, with no explanation. I called GSRA and asked why. They advised that their accounting department chose to cancel me immediately because I didn't auto-renew and that I was going to also be refunded an additional $8.34 for the remaining approximate two weeks left on my current policy. So I am now left without coverage, two weeks prior to my original expiration date and the only remedy is to purchase another full term - two weeks earlier than expected. This is simply a penalty imposed by GSRA for not exercising their auto-renew and is an illegitimate practice. Their member benefit brochure clearly states that auto-renew may be cancelled and makes no mention of penalties involved. I would advise anyone who is not wanting the auto-renew to take this information into consideration, and make their decisions accordingly. PS - I still haven't received any refunds as of this date.

Always had nothing but good things to say about Good Sam until a recent experience attempting to secure a tow for my 87 year old mother in law who has been a Good Sam member for at least the last 14 years. In short, we parked a vehicle a little over two years ago at the end of summer. It was running without issue and we just parked it for the winter. Since this time we have not had need to use the vehicle, a 2001 Chevy 3500 truck, which has a dump bed on it. Replaced the battery, as the old one had went bad, went to start it and it would only run very rough. Determined it would be unsafe to drive on the road, so we would call Good Sam and use the towing portion of the membership. I called Good Sam and after them asking several questions, we were told that this was a vehicle maintenance issue and the 10 mile tow to a repair shop would not be covered. We were told that they only cover the tow if the issue is found within 24 hours of it operating. I then asked the question that a lot of RV people may be interested to know: what would be the case if I put her RV away for the winter and then in the spring went to de-winterize it and got it out for use? I was told that even with that scenario, a tow would not be covered. Essentially, I was told that in order for them to cover the towing of the vehicle, the vehicle should have been operating with 24 hours of calling them. All this does is train people to lie and not be truthful. It also does not state this prominently anywhere in their advertising literature. I was told it is in the contract that ever member has to sign, but unless you are an attorney, no person reads every fine detail. I am very disappointed with Good Sam and the way that they handled this scenario. I have been a Marcus Lemonis fan and am disappointed that one of his companies is finding ways to short change the customer and stand behind fine details buried in a contract. I wonder if he is aware that they are doing this? BTW my mother in law has only had need to use the service 1 or 2 times in that last 14 years. Even though Good Sam advertises that they will be there for you when you need them, they were not there for my mother in law. We are evaluating other avenues for her to consider moving forward, as well as evaluating our own roadside membership. Again, very disappointed with Good Sam.
