Have you ever had a $15,000 oil change? Because I have.
We were longtime Grease Monkey customers (and advocates) and trusted their “Done Fast. Done Right.” slogan and friendly service as many of these reviews highlight, too. We brought our Subaru Outback in for a routine oil change, and they recommended front and rear differential service, which we approved.
Then, while driving on a family vacation in the mountains, our car lost power and stranded us on the side of the road with our two young children. An inspection showed the front differential was completely empty of fluid, causing catastrophic transmission failure and requiring a full transmission replacement.
Three independent mechanics have since confirmed the front differential was empty and that there was no leak or manufacturing defect. Subaru denied our warranty claim and pointed fault to Grease Monkey as the last shop to service the differential. Despite this, Grease Monkey has denied any financial responsibility other than paying for the tow of our car from Steamboat to Denver. I’m posting this review only after first sending them a demand letter requesting compensation for our losses, which was ignored.
We were left with a ruined vacation, months of inconvenience, rental car costs, diminished vehicle value, and a $12,000 transmission replacement that pushed our total losses past $15,000.
We will never use Grease Monkey again, and I cannot recommend them anymore. A routine oil change and recommended differential service should not end with catastrophic transmission failure. Mistakes can happen, but businesses should take responsibility when they do.
Save yourself thousands upon thousands of dollars and avoid Grease Monkey.

Came in to Grease Monkey for the first time, for an oil change. I was taken care of right away and kept informed of the process and results. Nothing was added to my service and I felt it was very efficient and reasonably priced. I would return if any further issues arise!

They didn’t give me my wheel lock key back. I live 1.5 hours away and had to have a friend go get it for me. Turns out I just got my oil changed for the next time and they gave me the wrong wheel lock back so I had to pay to have them cut off and replaced. Terrible service.

Outstanding professional customer service from the entire team. I appreciated the transparency regarding what was causing the check engine light going on and off. I will be back and recommend them to all!
As one of the few Grease Monkey locations that offers Mobil 1, this has been my go-to shop for years. The service is always fast, professional, and consistent. I’ve trusted this location with multiple vehicles over the years, including several Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti models, and they’ve always taken great care of them. Highly recommended for quick, reliable service.
