John was incredibly helpful, informative, and honest throughout the entire process. The service was excellent, communication was great (Nate, too!), and everything was explained clearly with no pressure. John offered fair pricing and made the experience easy and stress-free. I highly recommend Brakes Plus in Boulder if you're looking for reliable, trustworthy car service.

Go to a lot of repair places over the years, Brakes plus’ are pretty solid as far as I can tell, but had a great guy, manager, sorry I forgot his name, Glen, maybe? Car needed new front brakes badly, and back ones somewhat, brake fluid flush badly, just off disability, and gave me a deal on fluid flush and honored a warranty on pads from another shop…. Took it in on short notice, had it back on shorter notice, awesome crew! 👍

I had a frustrating experience with the Boulder Arapahoe Brakes Plus, but I also want to recognize that Brakes Plus corporate ultimately stood behind their customer and made the situation right. I brought my 2008 Acura RDX in because it was losing power, struggling to accelerate, and stalling. When I scheduled the appointment, I specifically noted that I believed the alternator might be the source of the problem. Based on their diagnosis, Brakes Plus recommended and performed replacement of the fuel pump, spark plugs, ignition coils, and VVT/VTEC components, for a total of $3,171.02. I was told the vehicle had been repaired and that the repair had been verified with a final road test. Unfortunately, the exact same problem returned within approximately two miles of leaving the shop. I immediately took the vehicle to my regular mechanic, who diagnosed an alternator that was failing under driving conditions. The alternator was replaced for $880.37, and the original complaint was completely resolved. I met with the local store manager to try to resolve the issue directly before contacting corporate. Although we were unable to reach a satisfactory resolution at the store level, Brakes Plus regional management reviewed the documentation, took my concerns seriously, and ultimately issued a full refund of the Brakes Plus repairs. I believe Brakes Plus corporate did the right thing, and I appreciate that. My review reflects my experience with this specific location and the diagnostic process, not the way corporate handled the matter afterward. My advice to other customers is to clearly document your concerns, ask questions about the diagnostic process, and don't hesitate to seek a second opinion if the original problem has not been resolved.

Okay re doing my review of this place. I’ve had A LOT of work done here. Let’s look at the good, it’s reasonably priced. But I’ve learned ya get what ya pay for here. I had shocks done in my van 30k miles ago, guess what, now they are leaking. Poor quality parts used. Brought my other vehicle in here to have front brakes done $1k, squealing for weeks. Brought it back, they told me to drive on it longer, brought it back a third time, they sell me a rear brake job at another $1k. Guess what? Brakes still squealing. Dare I take it back a fourth time

Maybe he just thought we were stupid students, but me and my partner went in to get our brake lights fixed up before a road trip out of state. We stated that the “Maintenance Required” light turned on, presumably due to the fact that it was time for an oil change, and to do that too. After we explained what we needed done, he went on a weird rant about how he hates shops who like to scam and “oh we’re not that kind of shop” like hmmm… okay… We leave the car as he says he can “fit us in last minute”, just to get a call about an hour later that the car is nearly undriveable due to the damage throughout the engine. Quoted $740 bucks for seemingly nothing. We decided not to get all that unnecessary work done, told him to just do the lights and oil change. When we show up to pick up the car, the guy’s demeanor is completely changed and he is being short and rude. At this point, he’s going on more rants about how it would be dangerous and dicey to take this car out of state whatsoever, saying if we “make the choice” to do that we need to check our fluid levels every time we stop. Finally tells us he never ended up fixing our lights since it’s “probably an electrical problem”. Paid $144 bucks for “an oil change”. I am coming here to say that we still went on that trip, had absolutely zero issues with our car, and can confidently say we will never be coming back to these scam artists.
