Ignition interlock device installations usually take 1-2 hours at your local Official Intoxalock Location, depending on the make and model of your vehicle. You can either wait for the installation to be complete in a waiting area or can drop off your vehicle for pick-up later.

Depending on which state you live in, you will need to have your device calibrated every 30 to 180 days. These calibrations make sure your device accurately reads and records your breath alcohol concentration with every sample you provide.

Removing your ignition interlock or breathalyzer device is easy. Your installer will remove the device and will mail it back to Intoxalock for you. It's important that only your Official Intoxalock installer disconnect your ignition interlock device.

This service is trash. They said it would be a 25$ installation. It turned out to be 325$ then I couldn’t even get ahold of the customer service agent to get help. Now they continue to charge me more and more for their service. That they quoted me less on. Poor representation for the service.

Coral at King interlock is very nice and a good person however the interlock device installed in my car has been more of a distraction than I believe drunk driving could have been even though I was charged DUI when my blood results from the hospital showed triple zeros nonethelessThe intoxalock company is a joke they charge you fees like $75 for lockout if your battery dies which obviously if you have to buy a new battery or struggle to get your car jumped and drive it to recharge your battery is more money out of your pocket that you already probably can't afford I was being charged regularly fees like this that I couldn't afford that thankfully they actually waved and credited back to my account so I requested to be taken off of auto pay and put on manual pay but surprise surprise there was a $75 fee for that as well I told them I could not afford to pay a $75 fee they said that they would credit it back and take me off of auto pay but I called in next time and they some point along the way informed me that the only way that the fee would be waived is if I was put back on auto pay unfortunately I did not understand the person because all of their agents are in India or Indian people and if you've ever heard an Indian talk no offense by any means but you really can't understand their English perfectly clear just how Spanish people don't understand English people clear all of the time nonetheless this company is a joke a rip off and I definitely would not recommend using this company if you have to have an interlock device in your car. !!!

This lady is good and knowledgeable. Intoxilock though is a bad company. They are being sued for fraud.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
