I’ve been coming to this Valvoline every few months for years, and I’ve always had a good experience—but this visit made me love this location even more.
First, I was thrilled to see so many women working in an industry that is still typically male-dominated. As a 56-year-old woman, men working on my car certainly don’t intimidate me, but I absolutely love seeing women taking up space, knowing their stuff, and confidently doing the work. These women were knowledgeable, capable, and fully involved in every part of the operation.
Isabella was the first to greet me. There was already a car in the bay and another ahead of me, so she came over while I waited, completed all the preliminary checks, got everything ready, and chatted with me along the way. She and the rest of the crew were working hard in that heat—and in black uniforms, no less!
Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the female assistant manager’s name, but she was an absolute hoot. She explained everything thoroughly, reviewed my bill line by line, and made recommendations in a way that felt genuinely helpful rather than like a sales pitch. I arrived with a $25 coupon and basically told her, “I don’t know exactly which oil change this applies to, but I want the one that lets me use my coupon!” She immediately explained that it applied to the synthetic oil change and agreed that it was a good choice since I commute. She commutes too, so there was an instant sense of camaraderie.
I also explained that my car is due for a smog check soon and that I wanted to do whatever made sense to help it run well, especially with all the commuting and this summer heat. She recommended a fuel treatment and addressed a fluid that was low, clearly explaining the cost and why each service might help. When she mentioned a few other services the system showed were due, I told her I wanted to focus on the oil change and getting through the smog check first. She completely respected that—no pressure whatsoever. We agreed that I could revisit the other recommendations next time.
There was also a male assistant manager working another bay who was friendly and professional. Honestly, the entire team was knowledgeable, respectful, and kind. I have never felt talked down to at this location, and the staff always finds a way to make the visit pleasant—even commenting on the various stickers on my car while I wait.
I normally come on weekends, but if Fridays mean I get to watch these fabulous women run the bays, I may need to start scheduling my oil changes accordingly. Five stars for excellent service, clear communication, a welcoming atmosphere, and a team that clearly knows what they’re doing.
