  First contact was a salesperson telling me flat out they don't do out-of-state deals and even he didn't know why. Should've been my first red flag, but I pushed forward anyway. Ended up spending two more days with their finance director getting the runaround on a lease deal advertised right on their website, one they ultimately couldn't come close to matching. When I asked for the numbers to explain the gap, I got vague answers and was told sharing basic lease info was 'against Volvo policy,' which isn't true, other Volvo dealers gave me that same info without hesitation. If you're going to advertise a price, be ready to honor it or explain honestly why you can't. This whole experience has killed any desire to own a Volvo.

  A few months before my most recent lease was up, I randomly wandered into the dealership just to take a look and see what might be available. As fate would have it, Alex Minasian politely walked up to offer help. I told Alex that I was very clear about what I wanted to spend this time around, and that I would likely put him through his paces as part of the negotiation. He didn’t hesitate. He said he was here to help, and he would he was very best to get us to where we needed to be. After crunching the numbers a bit, Alex went into the finance manager to start the negotiation. The first round was close, but not where it needed to be. Alex showed no fear, he said again that he was here to help me and would do his very best on this next round. And he did. Alex was calm, professional, well informed, and sure of his capabilities. I never felt pressured, Alex was always there, asking what I needed, what I wanted and if there was anything he could do better. Alex is one of the younger team members at Volvo Santa Monica, but don’t let that dissuade you from working with him. Alex knows his stuff, and he will not leave you disappointed.
