The customer service is good. Specifically Cody. Every team member is good. But I always have the most interaction with Cody. Just very kind and pleasant. And I also like that fact that you can get a pick up and a drop off to your home. The lady that drives is also very pleasant.

While I appreciate that I was provided an upgraded vehicle when my reserved car was unavailable, the replacement vehicle was actually smaller than the one I had reserved and required more fuel, which created an inconvenience during my rental period. Additionally, when I returned the vehicle approximately 10 minutes before closing, I requested a courtesy ride back to my personal vehicle, which was located only a few minutes away. The assistant manager initially informed me that no one could provide a ride because the staff would be leaving at 1:00 PM. I had to repeatedly ask for assistance and specifically request that she speak with the associate who had originally picked me up. After several requests, the assistant manager finally asked the associate and without hesitation she agreed and was both courteous and more than willing to help. The ride itself took only about four minutes. What was disappointing was not the eventual resolution, but the reluctance to assist in the first place. As a member of management, I would have expected a greater commitment to customer service, problem-solving, and ensuring a positive customer experience. Instead, I was left feeling as though my request was an inconvenience despite being a reasonable accommodation that could be fulfilled quickly and easily. The associate who ultimately assisted me demonstrated the level of professionalism and customer care that I would have expected from management. Unfortunately, the assistant manager's response did not reflect those same standards and left a negative impression on an otherwise routine rental experience. She was not the most kind or willing to help or problem-solve to provide a better customer service experience.

This review is not meant to bash the local Santa Maria Enterprise branch. My issue is specifically with Enterprise’s call center and the complete lack of communication, consistency, and competence I experienced throughout this entire process. I’m writing this to educate others so they don’t end up dealing with the same frustration and wasted time that I did. My issues with Enterprise started three weeks before my trip. I called their call center to reserve a rental vehicle and specifically booked a Chevy Tahoe for two weeks. The representative confirmed my reservation and told me my total with the military discount would be around $802. After confirming my email address with her, I never received a confirmation email. A week before my trip, I called the local branch to confirm everything, only to find out they had absolutely NOTHING on file. No reservation, no Tahoe, nothing. I then had to scramble last minute and rebook a completely different vehicle, an F-150 or similar. The day finally came to pick up the truck, and suddenly I was told I needed a credit card. Apparently my debit card wasn’t good enough, despite nobody mentioning this during the multiple calls I made beforehand. Then I was told someone else could book it with their credit card, but the price would be significantly higher because they weren’t military. So not only did Enterprise fail to keep my original reservation, but I also lost the military pricing I was originally quoted. When I contacted corporate to ask why my debit card wouldn’t suffice and to get an actual explanation for the policy, the representative’s response was basically, “That’s our policy.” No effort to help, no explanation, no customer service whatsoever. Then during my out-of-state trip, the “Check Engine Oil” light came on in the rental. I was more than willing to either take the vehicle in for maintenance or exchange it for another vehicle. I contacted the Enterprise call center and provided my location so they could supposedly coordinate with a local branch and approved vendors. I was told someone from the local branch would contact me. Nobody ever did. So once again, I had to do Enterprise’s job for them. I personally called the local branch, got an approved vendor, and even called the vendor myself to double-check that they handled Enterprise rentals. They confirmed they did and told me they would bill Enterprise directly. After waiting for the oil change to be completed and reminding them AGAIN that this was an Enterprise rental vehicle, I was suddenly told I owed $156 because they couldn’t locate the VIN in Enterprise’s system. After explaining the entire situation, the guy at least gave me a discount down to $120, but I still had to pay out of pocket because Enterprise couldn’t get their own systems straight. When I went back to Enterprise and contacted the local branch, all they said was, “Oh, we can reimburse you.” That response completely missed the point. I wasted over two hours dealing with the call center, the vendor, waiting on the oil change, and trying to fix problems that Enterprise created from the very beginning. At this point, the reimbursement isn’t even the issue anymore. It’s the complete incompetence, lack of communication, and inability of the call center to properly handle basic customer service issues. Enterprise seriously needs to reevaluate their call center operations because nobody seems to know what they’re doing. The local branches should honestly handle these situations directly because the call center has been nothing but misinformation, wasted time, and frustration. I will never rent through Enterprise Rent-A-Car again, and I will absolutely be telling my family, friends, and coworkers to avoid this company as well. Completely unacceptable experience from start to finish.
