Monae and the whole crew always deliver the best of service with the greatest attitude pleasure to come in and seeing people working together and working hard and would never go anywhere else to have my oil changed it. Best run business in the Bay Area without a doubt. Love you guys.
They should really do a commercial with a first time Valvoline customer experiencing the opposite of the usual car service. I was greeted before I could park, pulled my car into the maintenance bay, the crew was ready to get started. It was an educational experience, I was shown my air filters, my oil levels, they changed a headlight bulb-all while I was sitting in the car-having a conversation about my car maintenance. I appreciate the friendly, professional and personal service given to me by the crew-they give top notch service while making it so easy for the customer. It was a great way to start my day.

I had an amazing experience at Valvoline. This was my first time getting an oil change, and the staff was incredibly helpful, communicative, honest and friendly. They explained everything clearly and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process.
I also had a crazy poodle (Monty) with my in the car and the staff was so respectful and kind to him. I highly recommend this valvoline location and the staff!
Got helped by Brian and Nathan starting around 7:20am and was leaving by 7:41am. I had tried to get an oil change the day before around 5pm, but there was a long line so I decided to return in the morning. They did go through other services they could provide, but I wouldn't recommend easy ones that customers can do themselves -- like light bulb changes, air filter changes, fuel injector, and windshield wipers. I was able to find a coupon to help bring down the cost a bit. I appreciate the hours of operation (7am-7:30pm) --- just plan to either come early or come late if you don't want to wait.

I am giving this place one star because this was, without a doubt, the worst oil change experience my family has ever had.
My 20-year-old brother-in-law took his 2006 Acura to this Valvoline location in San Rafael for a basic oil change. I have photos and evidence of everything that happened. As soon as he left the shop, the SUV started shaking and making an extremely loud noise. When he got home, we checked the vehicle and discovered it had little to no oil in the engine.
He immediately drove back to the shop and explained exactly what had happened. Instead of taking the issue seriously, they started the vehicle, brushed off his concerns, and told him to take it to a mechanic. He explained that he couldn’t safely drive it because the engine had no oil and could suffer severe damage. The manager told him there was nothing they could do except let him file a report, and even said the report probably wouldn’t go anywhere.
What happened next was even more disappointing. Because my brother-in-law is only 20 years old and doesn’t have much experience with cars, he trusted their advice. They convinced him to pay for another oil service, this time a premium one that cost nearly $200, even though he had already paid for the original oil change. In doing so, they effectively removed the evidence that the vehicle had left their shop without oil.
Not long after leaving for the second time, the engine completely failed on the road. We had to call a tow truck, and the engine was beyond repair. The vehicle ultimately had to be scrapped.
Before that happened, we contacted Valvoline’s corporate office, submitted emails, photos, and all the evidence we had. Their response was that they could not help because the vehicle had already received a second oil service. In other words, the very service their employees performed became the reason they denied responsibility.
My entire family used to bring our vehicles to this location because we trusted them. After this experience, none of us will ever return.
If you’re reading this review, I strongly recommend taking your vehicle somewhere else, even if it costs $10, $15, or $20 more. Paying a little extra is worth avoiding the risk of losing an engine and dealing with a business that, in our experience, refused to take responsibility when something went terribly wrong.
