    Worst experience ever at a National car agency - and highly recommend travellers to get their rentals from SFO airport if they can. We rented 2 rentals from this location on our trip (we were staying at fisherman’s wharf). Both were 1 day rentals. The first day, we waited 40 minutes as emerald club members, when normally the wait is 5 minutes or less. They only had one person working the desk when there were about 10 people waiting. This location apparently doesn’t have a line for emerald club and 40 minutes later, another rep finally decided to come and work. It took him about 20 minutes to get us through, so an hour at the end of it, and we were finally on our way to get the car in the garage. Needless to say, we were late for our morning meeting. The second day, we had a booking done the same way through the app, and it was a problem that the rental had my credit card on file even though my husband and I were both driving the vehicle. I’m actually confused myself what the problem was - but anyways the rep at the desk supposedly called for a manager who never came in the 20 minutes that we waited and in that time, I just made a new reservation on the app with my husband’s credit card and told the rep that there should be no issues now. Finally after 40 minutes of bullshit, we were given our car. I was told it was to prevent fraud - it isn’t fraud if the credit card and myself, who owns the credit card, are both present. The rep at SFO airport (where we were returning the car) asked us how our experience was and I gave him a brief version of all this and he waived off our charges for today. He also let us know we were getting billed for our miles even though we were literally going from fisherman’s wharf to the airport and that is covered under our company. So not sure what that was about, but he took care of that too. Rent from SFO airport. It’s nice to see we were valued somewhere. I will say the cars at this location were clean and well maintained from the looks of it. Low kms and good variety etc. The service is trash - we come to California often, I will rather pay an extra day and rent from the airport than deal with this location again.

    Worst rental car experience ever. We needed a one way, cross country rental. The car they gave us had 63,379 miles on it and was excessively beat up both inside and out. When we questioned the employee about the scratches, dings and dents, she assured us this was not considered damage. Upon arrival at our hotel the first night, we discovered the plastic bumper cover was loose--more pre-existing damage hidden until we hit highway speeds. We literally had to stop to buy duct tape to hold it in place so that it didn't fly off while we were making our drive. When returning the vehicle, we alerted them to the hidden damage. The clerk at check in could not believe that we were given such a high milage vehicle and encouraged me to seek compensation on the cost of the rental from the place we rented--which I did not. A few days later we received an email from their Damage Recovery Unit seeking to hold us responsible for the damage...however, not the hidden damage to the bumper that I alerted them to---they were trying to charge me over $2000 for every single dent and scratch on the vehicle that the clerk in San Francisco assured us was "not considered damage." So much extra stress both during the drive and for weeks afterwards that took multiple calls to resolve. I have rented many vehicles but this was my first time to use National Rental Car and I am left with the opinion of NEVER AGAIN!

    No Emerald Aisle or even a choice of vehicle. Employees are very slow to get anything done and not very helpful. Definitely not up to snuff with a normal great National rental experience.
