Had a bad experience with this Enterprise. The person who attended to me was fast but rude. Car was alright but that is always the case with Enterprise. I had a gas coupon from Enterprise Denver (~5 weeks earlier), which they gave as goodwill gesture since the car which they gave me had some issues. When I texted them whether I can use that coupon, they refused and told me that they cannot honor a coupon from another Enterprise location. I moved from Hertz to Enterprise due to wider availability. Clearly customer handling is quite different.

They were transparent and not so pushy in trying to sell insurance even though we already have insurance. I rented the car for 5 days but ended up only using it for 4 days, and they only charged me for the 4 days. In other rental companies like Dollar, Budget etc. They would still charge you for 5 days though plans changed and only used the car for 4 days. I appreciate that very much. This is the America that I liked about this company. The other companies that I mentioned above are not living up to the American standards...I am not sure what standards they are going by...

Not the easiest or most professionally-staffed of Enterprise locations, and the initial vehicle that they tried to offer me was quite torn up. At least it wasn't a Ford Escort like the young rental agent had joked. I didn't realize those weren't made since early 2000s. There was a middle aged gentleman parking cars and I asked him about the questionable condition of the vehicles and he advised me to make sure to take a video of everything, not just photos like I was doing initially. I couldn't believe everything that was wrong with the vehicle once I really started looking. Then I decided nooo way was I driving that car. This was not a bargain-basement priced rental on vacay in a foreign country where you get what you get and keep it moving. Nah. I have to look presentable. This is for work. Anyway, the 1st agent tried to make it better by saying it didn't matter what type of condition the vehicle was returned in because my company had paid for the full insurance / loss damage waiver, but who wants to be driving a car with a sizeable hole in the upholstery in the back seat big enough to put my thumb through, dents on the window trim, and paint damage in multiple locations on the car? Work does not want me driving around in a hoopty & neither do I. Eventually a higher level employee got involved to offer something in better condition. On par with my luck here a"Maintenance Needed" light came on during the rental but the agency said it wasn't due for 5K more miles so don't worry. Ahhhh...lovely. Inspires a lot of confidence in their attention to safety & upkeep of their vehicles.

Christian and Xeryus provided the best experience at the SFO Enterprise Rent-A-Car. After a 5.5-hour transcontinental flight, their upbeat, welcoming personalities were exactly what I needed. They were friendly, professional, and made the entire pickup process smooth and easy. Their positive energy really stood out and turned what can sometimes feel like a routine travel chore into such a pleasant experience. I’ve rented from this SFO location multiple times and honestly have never had a bad experience. The entire team is consistently helpful, efficient, and makes both pickup and return quick and seamless. It’s always one of the easiest parts of traveling through SFO.

WARNING: DO NOT RENT OR BUYFROM ENTERPRISE – UNHEALTHY VEHICLE & ZERO REGARD FOR SAFETY The Incident: Maybe 2 days into my rental, while driving in clear conditions, the vehicle suddenly malfunctioned. I heard a loud beep, felt a physical jolt (like a roller coaster drop), and a Red Triangle (Critical Drive System Error) flashed on the dashboard. I immediately stopped to inspect the area. I had hit absolutely nothing—no debris, no bumps, no other vehicles. The Mechanical Failure: Despite no external impact, the drive system began making a loud, rhythmic grinding noise every time the car moved forward or in reverse. The only visible "damage" was the interior wheel well liner hanging down, likely shaken loose by the internal mechanical fault. The Response (The Reason You Should Stay Away): I contacted Enterprise immediately and told them word-for-word what happened. I explicitly told them: "I do not feel safe in this vehicle." Instead of swapping the car or ensuring my safety, they gave me two unacceptable options: Pay a $500 deductible upfront (preferably in cash) just to get into a safe car. Continue driving a car with a critical drive system fault until my own personal vehicle was finished. They essentially told me to risk my life in a malfunctioning car or pay them $500 for a mechanical failure I didn't cause. This office values your deductible more than your physical safety. "It’s heartening to know that Enterprise values human life so deeply. When it comes to their own staff, they 'wouldn't dream' of letting someone drive a car with a critical drive-system error—they towed it immediately because safety is their top priority. It’s just a shame that 'top priority' doesn't extend to the customers. I guess my safety is worth exactly $500 less than an employee’s." THE "CLEAN CARFAX" SCAM: How Enterprise Hides Major Damage If you think a clean Carfax report means a car is safe, think again. I learned the hard way that when you deal with a multi-million dollar corporation like Enterprise, "transparency" is just a marketing term. The Document Shell Game: After the drive system failure in my rental, I went back and forth with the claims department. I asked multiple times for the full repair history. Despite three different employees admitting the car went to three different shops, they would only provide one document: a bill for minor bodywork. They completely scrubbed the "Critical Drive System Error" from the record. According to their paperwork, the mechanical failure I experienced never happened. The Carfax Loophole: I ended up paying the deductible just to protect my credit, but then I did an experiment. I ran a Carfax on the vehicle I just paid to have repaired. The result? Zero accidents. Clean record. How is that possible? Here is the "backdoor loophole" you need to know: Self-Insured Corporations: Companies like Enterprise are often self-insured. They don't have to report to traditional insurance companies. Private Repair Networks: They own their own repair shops or have exclusive contracts with shops that are not required to report to Carfax. Fleet Vehicle Warnings: When you see "Fleet Vehicle" on a listing, it means the owner had the power to hide every accident, engine failure, and major repair the car ever had. The Bottom Line: Do not waste your money on Carfax thinking it protects you from fleet-owned vehicles. These companies have created a system where they can sell "certified" cars to unsuspecting consumers that have been through catastrophic failures—failures they simply chose not to put on paper. You aren't buying a "clean" car; you're buying a car with a scrubbed history. Don't be misled: A "Clean Carfax" is a choice, not a fact.
