The agent who helped me start my rental was very helpful about whether the car I'd reserved was big enough to handle the group I was traveling with. He gave me a larger vehicle and a rate that was less than what I'd greed to with the original on-line reservation. He also told me of a location to fill the tank before returning the car that was cheaper than retail and much cheaper than what Alamo charges for fuel. So, greatly helpful! But I learned that if you are renting for 2 days, they charge you for EXACTLY 48 hours from the minute you sign in; and if you return the car even 1 minute after those 48 hours, you are charged for additional time and the various local fees and taxes increase proportionally.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after more than three weeks trying to resolve a serious billing issue with Alamo at San Francisco Airport, I feel compelled to share my experience. I hired a vehicle for three months and was initially overcharged by £2,020.71 due to what Alamo themselves described as a “computer glitch.” While part of this was eventually refunded, I was then charged again, leaving me still owed £1,647.61. Throughout this process, I have repeatedly provided clear evidence, including the original contract price and a full breakdown of every charge made to my account, demonstrating exactly where the overcharge has occurred. Despite this, I have received only brief, generic responses that fail to address the substance of the issue or properly explain the charges. What has been most disappointing is not simply the overcharge itself — mistakes can happen — but the apparent lack of meaningful investigation, accountability, or customer care in resolving it. The responses I’ve received have largely amounted to variations of “the system says the charges are correct,” without any proper engagement with the documentation and facts provided. For a company of this size and reputation, I expected a far more professional and customer-focused approach, especially given the amount of money involved. I remain hopeful that someone at Alamo will finally review the matter properly and resolve what is, ultimately, a very straightforward accounting issue.

Checkin representative at SFO was great so was Tim representative assigning the car in the rental car pickup area. I was not impressed with your representative when I was dropping the car off at SFO. I informed the gentleman that the vehicle was showing that the engine oil to be changed soon. He said that, I being an employee of Enterprise Mobility, should have known better that the engine oil indicator will show up only when the vehicle hits 7,000 miles. It acceptable to explain to a customer in a polite manner and not be a ‘Know it all’

Dear Alamo, You’ve sent me two emails asking for my feedback, so here goes: I never rented a car from you. I have sent you three emails, two instagram DMs, and made one Instagram post to get your attention. Someone is using my email and it’s not me. Additionally, I know the price, model, time & date of rental location, confirmation number and beyond of someone else’s rental. This is a security issue. Please find the time to respond to my messages and emails to fix this instead of ignoring them. **Update after response from Alamo: I am not your customer. Are you reading anything I am writing? You have already inconvenienced me bc you haven’t actually responded to my emails, meaningfully replied here or Instagram, and now you are asking me to write a 5th time!!! You have honour in any effort, and I will go out of my way not to rent from you again. To all renters: Alamo sent me someone else’s confirmation number, names, pick up dates etc. Do you know who your travel details are being shared with??

Avoid this place if you can. Received various incorrect extra charges after returning the car. Now I am unable to get any response from customer services to correct the issue. Have been trying for over a week now… I can only amend this review instead of responding to you Jean. I have tried the email provided numerous times but had no response. I cannot call the US number as I am from the UK and my mobile provide can't do this without a significant fee. How else can I contact?
